Calwell Primary School is located in the Tuggeranong Valley in Canberra’s south. Welcome to the official page of Calwell Primary School.

The school was opened in 1989 and is designed to accommodate up to 460 students. The school is located on a hillside setting with views to the Brindabella Mountains. We encourage contributions to the page. Please note the content is moderated. The page aims to highlight the achievements of our school, our teachers and students. Tagging of parents or friends within the comment box is permitted with the understanding that all other rules of engagement are followed. Kindergarten Writers at Work! ✏️

Our Kindergarten students have been busy turning their phonics knowledge into sentences! Using sounds they know, students independently wrote simple sentences and proudly shared their learning with confidence.

We are so proud of the growth, persistence, and excitement our young writers are showing as they take their first steps on their writing journey! 🌟📚👏

Our Photo of the Week comes from Calwell Primary School, where year 5/6 students have been doing research on world explorers. 🌍

Students researched famous explorers including Vasco da Gama, Christopher Columbus, Zheng He, James Cook and Ibn Battuta. Students investigated each explorer’s life and voyages before creating colourful, detailed posters to showcase their learning.

Well done to Calwell year 5/6 students on their creativity, curiosity and effort! 👏

🌍 Year 5/6 World Explorers

Our Year 5/6 students proudly completed their World Explorer research tasks creating impressive handmade posters about famous explorers including Vasco da Gama, Christopher Columbus, Zheng He, James Cook and Ibn Battuta.

Students investigated each explorer’s life and voyages before creating colourful, detailed posters to showcase their learning. We were impressed by the creativity, curiosity and effort displayed throughout the task. Well done, Year 5/6! 👏✨

📦 What’s in the Box? 📦

Our 1/2 students have been putting their persuasive writing skills to work with a mysterious box labelled “DO NOT OPEN!” 👀

Using reasons and examples to support their opinions, students wrote persuasive texts explaining why the box should be opened. The mystery sparked plenty of curiosity, discussion and excitement as students worked hard to convince their audience!
