DPA welcomed a delegation of Fijian Government communications officials, to ANU today for a talanoa on misinformation, disinformation, online harm and the fast‑changing digital environment in Fiji.
The Talanoa highlighted the realities of government communication in Fiji from rapid social media sharing, emerging cybercrime challenges, election‑related misinformation, and the importance of strengthening public trust. ANU researchers shared perspectives and research on political participation, climate misinformation, gendered online violence and responsible use of new technologies.
The delegation is supported by the Australian High Commission in Suva and visiting various institutions in Australia. We thank the delegation for their openness and commitment to building safer, more resilient information systems for Fiji’s communities, and willingness to bring researchers and universities along.
