For 10 years, it has filled my heart with the greatest joy, passing on my knowledge to the thousands of students I have taught. I've watched you all grow, seen you achieve your goals, cried together, laughed together and have guided many of you while you move on to the next stepping stone towards a career in dance.

As you all know this term has been incredibly hard for me personally, with my Mum becoming very ill, and then my Dad not long after.....It cemented my decision that its the right time for me to retire.

Its been a hard decision because most of you I consider family and we see each other nearly every day. However its also been an easy decision as it's now time for me to be available for my own children and family, and running a dance school to the highest standard alongside that, is just impossible. I know despite the tears of shock and sadness yesterday, that you all understand.

I grew up within the studios of my Mums dance school. (And I swore I would never teach, let alone run my own school!) I have been blessed to have been trained by the best of the best teachers and professors in Australia and Europe, but as I say to you often, my Mum will remain at the very top, being the best ballet teacher I have ever had. Some of you have been lucky enough to have been taught by her. Everything VDSE is, is because of her.

We have had some amazing times together, from our incredible troupe dances; Red Ballet, Sister Act, Interstellar, Skyeboat, Pray to name a few...our amazing soloists, your confidence and self esteem has grown incredibly over the years and I'm so happy that I was the one standing side stage for you. One thing I will miss so much are our beautiful concerts!! Even though EVERY year my promise of no quick changes was broken 🤷🏼‍♀️

After years of nagging me, you all finally got to do the Nutcracker. Thank you all for pulling this together in 4 weeks. My personal highlight will always be Beauty & The Beast, I am so proud of how we presented that show, I am still regretting we only did 1!

Thankyou for the lifelong memories you have given me and to every single person that has contributed to the success and great reputation VDSE has built over the past decade. I hope I have been able to enrich your lives in the same way you have mine.

I have always been one to embrace collaboration and togetherness with other dance schools. I dont believe we should be against each other, I hope one day you can all share and support each other in any way without fear of losing students. If you allow your students a "long lead" and encourage them to be trained by other professionals in maybe some aspects you aren't able to provide to them, they will never leave you, instead they will trust and love you more. Thank you to the dance teachers that have helped me over the years, I have really felt the love and respect from you all and I've created lifelong friendships.

As the doors on VDSE close, another opens. Embrace it, grab it with all your enthusiasm, build on what you've already achieved. You've come so far, keep going. I'll always be right there in your corner 💯
