Thank you to everyone who joined this week's Indonesia Study Group featuring Campbell Macknight ( Asia & the Pacific at ANU) , who presented "How South Sulawesi Upsets Ideas About Indonesian History."
During the seminar, we explored the rich history of South Sulawesi and its literary traditions, examining how the development of Bugis and Makassar states, alongside distinctive writing systems and texts, offers alternative perspectives on Indonesian history. The discussion highlighted the value of South Sulawesi's historical and literary heritage in broadening our understanding of Indonesia's diverse past.
We thank Campbell for sharing his insights and all participants who contributed to the engaging discussion both in person and online.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this week’s Indonesia Study Group seminar with Dyah “Prita” Pritadrajati.
During the seminar, we discussed evidence from a large-scale study in Central Java on a low-cost government parental engagement program in Indonesia, highlighting its impact on parent–teacher communication, parental involvement, and student learning outcomes, as well as the key opportunities and challenges of strengthening family engagement in education.
A big thank you to Prita for sharing this important research and to all participants for contributing to a thoughtful and engaging discussion.

Our latest Global Seminar brought together Aichiro Prabowo (Monash University, Indonesia), Thomas B. Pepinsky (Cornell University) , and Alexander Rothenberg (Syracuse University) to discuss the economics, politics, and welfare implications of Indonesia’s new capital city.
From public funding, public support and the broader impacts of relocating Indonesia’s government to Nusantara, the seminar provided valuable perspectives on one of the most significant public policy initiatives in Indonesia today.
