Hello all! ANUBA is proud to promote a Dhamma talk and book launch by Ajahn Brahmali being held on campus this December. Ajahn Brahmali - a senior Buddhist monk at the Bodhinyana Monastery in Perth - will be visiting Canberra for the first time on 7 December 2023. The event is free but registration is required as seats are limited. You can find additional information and the registration form at the link below:
https://santifm.org/santi/2023/11/05/dhamma-talk-book-launch-with-ajahn-brahmali/
Date: 7 December 2023
Location: Copland Theatre, ANU
Time: 6:00pm - 8:30pm
ANUBA was unable to assist in the booking of this event since we are currently not associated with the ANU. I would like to humbly request your presence outside the Copland Theatre from 5:30pm on the date of the talk to renew your membership and discuss the future of the club. You may renew your membership using the "Sign Up" button below our page banner at any time. We currently only have four Ordinary Members (current ANU students). A club with fewer than fifteen (15) Ordinary Members is unable to affiliate, so it’s up to you to keep ANUBA going! Without your assistance, ANUBA will be dissolved by the end of the year. I am currently investigating how to avoid charging for membership, but for now the price remains $5. I hope to see many of you there!

TL;DR - ANUBA FREE DINNER / AGM.
Shanghai Dumpling House.
24th Feb 2023.
Hi to all our members, and those interested in the ANU Buddhist Association!
We will be hosting a dinner at Shanghai Dumpling house (which will also double as our 2022 AGM; we've included an overview of the AGM below). Whether you're Buddhist yourself, an avid meditator, or merely interested in learning more about Buddhism, come along to meet great people and casually chat about Buddhism.
As a celebration of all our members, we will be covering the cost of everyones dinner! However, please note that to attend, you will have to be a member of the association; you can sign up at the link below for $5.
If you are interested in attending, please comment/reply by Monday the 20th of Feb so we can book in advance. If we don't know you're coming, we sadly can't guarantee there will be room. And get in quick! We will only be able to accomodate only about 15 people.
Also, if you would like to get involved as a member of the ANUBA executive committee this year (as President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Secretary), or want to find our more about what these positions entail, please let us know ASAP.
We look forward to seeing you on the 24th!
Warm regards,
ANUBA Executive Committee

**VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO FOR ANUBA TO CONTINUE NEXT YEAR!!!***
Dear ANUBA members,
This is a post to give you guys a retrospective on how the year passed for the club, and to say that we need your help!!
In short, we need people to join our executive committee, or ANUBA will be unable to continue next year.
After two years of COVID-19 disruptions, we had a good 2022, and thoroughly bounced back. The acting committee was made up of entirely new members: Robbie Harper, Jake Lyons and James Davies, plus Chini Datta, who assisted with organising events.
For the first time, we established meditation sittings in the ANU chaplaincy, and the club was able to organise two wonderful retreats at Sunnataram Forest Monastery. We continued the prior tradition of regular Dharma talks, and have also established a new relationship with the Twining Vines Zen Centre.
Unfortunately, three out of four executive members are unable to continue next year, and James will be overseas on exchange for the first semester. We need three or four new members for the committee if the club is to continue. These roles are President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. James will be contactable over the first semester but cannot assist with club administration until semester two.
We hope that you (yes, you!!!) will strongly consider taking this opportunity. We were in the same position 12 months ago, having no idea how to run a club. None of us particularly identify as Buddhist, but we were encouraged by the past committee to get involved anyway because of our interest. It has been a wonderful experience through which we all have learned a lot and connected to this tradition in deeper ways.
If you are even considering this a little and would like to know more, please reach out! We’re all friendly and happy to talk anything through with you.
With Metta,
ANUBA executive committee
