National Reconciliation Week is a time to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to reflect on the role we all play in reconciliation.

Our vision for reconciliation is one where the contributions of First Nations peoples to scientific knowledge are respected, recognised and celebrated.

Since 2019, the Academy has proudly supported outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander PhD students and early- and mid-career scientists.

Applications for the next Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scientist Award are now open, with up to $20,000 available to support outstanding researchers. See in the comments below our 2026 awardees.

$323.8 million for priority research infrastructure is welcome by the Academy.

Science infrastructure is national infrastructure. And for international partners building major instruments with Australian scientists, long-term certainty matters. These projects are not built in budget cycles. Some are built over decades.

Restoring science means giving researchers, industries and international partners confidence that Australia can plan, build and deliver over decades.
