New analysis of cosmic debris from the ocean floor points to a mysterious huge explosion more than 100 million years ago.
A great collaboration between The Australian National University ANSTO and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf in Germany.

Quantum physicist Associate Professor Rose Ahlefeldt is a guest on the Decoding the Future Podcast, talking Quantum Computing.
She breaks down one of the most misunderstood technologies of our time.
From superposition and entanglement to cryptography, drug discovery, and real-world applications, this conversation strips quantum computing back to its fundamentals, without losing the depth.

Professor Lan Fu has had an amazing journey from fundamental research to being involved in three companies (https://ketoneinnovations.com.au/) helping to turn her research into nano materials into life-changing technology - breath-monitoring of diseases such as diabetes.
"I had no idea that I would change a person’s life in this way.
“The journey is certainly worthwhile - I would encourage anyone who thinks their work has potential to give it a try!”

Stardust found in the ice in Antarctica reveals the earth's past - we've been flying through an interstellar cloud that's laced with the remnants of an ancient star explosion.
We're lucky to have the Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility to help us find this needle in 50,000 stadiums full of hay!
Nice work by Dominik Koll, joint work with Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf.

A delightfully clever technique to use collision of two black holes to measure and correct the calibration of the detectors that observed them.
“We are using black holes to help check the accuracy of our detectors. How cool is that!” said Dr Lilli (Ling) Sun, from the ANU Centre for Gravitational Wave Astronomy, and OzGrav - ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery
Nice international collaboration, with significant contributions from Swinburne University of Technology and The University of Melbourne as well.
Ultimately it will mean we can find out more about the black holes that have collided, and hopefully solve some puzzles with cosmology!

Congratulations to Liquid Instruments for securing $70 million in investment, to help develop a new class of AI-driven software.
Led by Professor Daniel Shaddock, Liquid Instruments commercialised technology developed at The Australian National University as part of the blue-sky search for gravitational waves with OzGrav - ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery
Their platform is reshaping how engineers interact with complex systems by consolidating multiple instruments into a single reconfigurable platform .
The bid was co-led by KeysightTechnologies and the Australian Government’s National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC).
