📖✨ Our June Newsletter is Here! ✨📖

This month, we're celebrating meaningful learning, children's voices, community connections, sustainability initiatives, and exciting inquiry projects across the service.

A special highlight was the opportunity for our leadership team to share Bright Future Early Learning Belconnen's Philosophy Review Journey with fellow educators and leaders through the Preschool Practice Coaches (PPC) network. It was an honour to showcase how authentic collaboration with children, families, educators, and the community helped shape a living philosophy that continues to guide our daily practice and decision-making.

We invite you to explore this month's newsletter and celebrate the many wonderful moments from our Bright Future Belconnen community. 💛

✨ **What if a philosophy review became one of the most powerful learning journeys within your service?**

We were incredibly honoured to present Bright Future Early Learning Belconnen's philosophy review journey in collaboration with the Preschool Practice Coaches (PPC) team at CECA, sharing how we transformed our philosophy review from a compliance task into a meaningful process of reflection, collaboration, and growth.

💭 We challenged ourselves to ask:
• Does our philosophy truly reflect who we are today?
• Have we genuinely captured the voices of our children, families, educators, and community?
• Can we see our philosophy embedded in everyday practice, not just displayed on a wall?

Through children's ideas, family feedback, educator reflection sessions, critical discussions, and community perspectives, we co-constructed a philosophy that authentically represents our learning community and continues to guide our decision-making, relationships, and pedagogy every day.

One of our favourite reflections from this journey was that a philosophy should never be a document that sits untouched for years. It should be a living, evolving reflection of the people who bring it to life.

A huge thank you to the PPC team for creating opportunities for professional dialogue and sector-wide learning. We hope our journey encourages other leaders and pedagogical teams to pause, reflect, and ask:

✨ *If your philosophy was written today, whose voices would be heard?*

We'd love to hear from other services:
👇 How do you ensure your philosophy remains meaningful, authentic, and visible in practice?

💛 Because the most powerful philosophies are not written for communities—they are created with them.

This week, children engaged in a meaningful exploration of ANZAC Day, developing an understanding of its importance in honouring the brave soldiers who served and sacrificed.
They listened to the Anzac Ted story and shared Lest We Forget, helping them reflect on remembrance in an age-appropriate way. The children expressed this learning creatively by making poppy brooches, symbolising respect and gratitude.
Together, we observed a one-minute silence, giving the children a quiet moment to reflect. They also learned how to perform a respectful salute, gaining a deeper understanding of how we show honour and appreciation.
The experience continued with baking traditional ANZAC cookies, connecting history with hands-on learning and shared enjoyment.
It was a day of reflection, creativity, and growing awareness of their role in remembering and honouring those who served.
Lest we forget.

🌸 Easter Celebrations at Bright Future Early Learning Belconnen 🌸🐣
Here are some beautiful snapshots from our Easter celebrations across the service. Children participated in a variety of engaging experiences including Easter craft, sensory play, creative art, and group discussions about kindness, sharing, and belonging.
A special thank you to our wonderful parents and educators for supporting children to design and create their own Easter hats from scratch using recycled and sustainable materials. This experience not only encouraged creativity and imagination but also supported children’s understanding of sustainability and reusing resources in meaningful ways. ♻️🎨
Children proudly participated in our Easter Hat Parade, where they confidently showcased their creations. To promote children’s voice and agency, the children also participated in a friendly voting experience to choose the most creative and sustainable hat, supporting decision-making, confidence and a sense of community. 🐰👒
We would also like to say a big thank you to one of our students who kindly volunteered to become our Easter Bunny, surprising the children with a special visit. The joy, excitement and smiles this created made the experience even more memorable for everyone. 🐇✨
These experiences supported children’s learning across the Early Years Learning Framework, particularly:
• Children developing a strong sense of identity
• Children becoming confident and involved learners
• Children developing social skills and a sense of belonging
• Children learning about sustainability and caring for their environment
Thank you to our educators for their creativity and dedication, and to our families for being part of these special moments in our learning community. 💛

🌏✨ Harmony Week & Eid Celebrations at Bright Future Belconnen✨🌙

What a beautiful week of learning, connection, and celebration across our centre! 💛

Our children explored the importance of caring for and respecting different cultures through a range of meaningful and engaging experiences. We read bilingual stories, sang songs in different languages, and enjoyed a delightful Japanese puppet show. Children proudly wore orange or their traditional attire, celebrating diversity and inclusion.

Together, we created a stunning piece of art with orange handprints on a large fabric, representing unity across our community. Our Harmony Tree bloomed with a kindness chain, while our Adventurers shared heartfelt kindness messages through handmade cards and promises displayed on their kindness tree chart. 🌿💫

Our little learners also joined in the fun—our babies enjoyed orange dot painting in their floor books and explored a moon sensory craft for Eid. Toddlers expressed their creativity through Eid-themed paintings and had lots of fun dressing up for the celebration. 🎨🌙

We celebrated culture through food too! Children experienced a variety of delicious dishes including curry with rice and papad, Italian pizza, and Thai noodles. 🍛🍕🍜

Through these experiences, children developed a deeper understanding of kindness, inclusion, and respect for all. 💕
