This term Mrs Vanessa Ross will be stepping away from being our Assistant Principal to being this term’s acting Principal. Please welcome Mrs Ross.

Here are some interesting facts from Mrs Ross πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ˜Š

I have been part of Good Shepherd school for almost eight years and I love being involved in this very special community where everyone supports each other and cares about each other's well-being.

Mrs Ross grew up on a farm in rural NSW with her family. Mrs Ross loved racing motorbikes when she was a child.

This term Mr Matthew Maher will be stepping away from teaching STEM and being our ICT coordinator, he will be our acting Assistant Principal. Please welcome Mr Maher.

Here is some interesting facts from Mr Maher πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ˜Š

I have been part of the Good Shepherd community for the past four years and love the incredible staff, students and strong sense of community that makes our school such a special place. One of the highlights is being able to share in the many wonderful events and celebrations throughout the year.
Outside of work, I am an avid flight simulation enthusiast and enjoy spending time tinkering with technology, particularly using my 3D printers and laser engravers to bring new ideas and projects to life. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and our two young daughters, especially riding bikes and visiting local playgrounds together.

As children across Australia settle into school for Term 3, it’s the perfect time to check in about their online experiences and habits.

New eSafety research shows parents and carers of 10–17-year-olds are doing an incredible job supporting their children online, with over 90% already talking about online safety πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘

But the online world is changing so quickly and some of the biggest emerging risks aren’t being discussed as often. Our research found:
πŸ“² 1 in 4 parents talk about how algorithms influence what children see online
πŸ€– 1 in 10 discuss how generative AI can be used and misused
πŸ’° Fewer than 1 in 10 have talked about sextortion.

There isn’t one conversation that prepares children for every online experience. What matters most is creating an environment where they know they can come to a trusted adult if something doesn’t feel right and keeping those check-ins going as they grow.

Whether it’s talking about social media, AI or how and why online content ends up in their feeds, even small, regular chats can make a real difference.

If you’re not sure where to start, eSafety is here to help. Explore our free resources, including webinars, guides, conversation starters and a newsletter to help you navigate today’s online challenges with confidence: eSafety.gov.au/parents
