We will be at the Googong session and would love to see people who are interested in what Family Day Care has to offer attend! Come and say hi and see why Family Day Care is consistently a safe, loving, nurturing choice for early education and care 🙂
Looking for early learning that feels more like home?
Come and meet our Communities at Work Family Day Care team at one of our public playgroups to celebrate Family Day Care Week.
It’s a relaxed, welcoming way to explore your options, ask questions, meet some of our educators, and see if Family Day Care is the right fit for your family. While you chat, your children can enjoy fun supervised playgroup activities with other children.
Come join us at:
🌻 Kambah Adventure Playground, Tuggeranong: 6 May, 9.30am-11.30am
🌻 Moncrieff Recreational Park, Gungahlin: 13 May, 9.30am-11.30am
🌻 Duncan Fields, Googong: 20 May, 9.30am-11.30am
Look for our orange Communities at Work 'Everyone is Welcome' feather banner.

Today we were learning about wattle and the many uses Aboriginal people discovered including food, medicine, toolmaking, ways of observing the seasonal changes etc. we created our very own wattle paintings and I just had to do one too!
We have been having non stop wattle and blossom tree I-spy on our adventures, but I intentionally focussed on wattle first to embed Aborginial perspectives and learn about Indigenous scientists 🙂

Today I was stunned to receive the news that I am a regional winner for Goulburn/Southern Tablelands region educator of the year (family day care). I never in a million years expected to win, let alone a big region.
I’m thankful to my family day care families- who trust me wholeheartedly with their most precious people. I’m lucky to spend every day working in a field that is so rewarding. My own family for understanding my passion for family day care, being patient when I’m working outside of work hours, or listening to my ideas and stories- thank you!
The last part of my submission asked about what I’m proud of in the past 12 months. For me that was settling in during a time of great change and reaffirming the heart of what I do: creating a place where children can grow, belong, and shine. I hope each child in my care feels like I provide that for them 🥰🥰

A little diy Gruffalo scene (plus some Aussie animals) for our gruffalo obsessed explorers! I’m eying off the Tara’s treasures items- does anyone know how well they hold up to play?

What better way to introduce the UN convention rights of the child than to visit a hands on museum about Australian Democracy in our very own community!! We are starting with Article 7: children have the right to a name and nationality. This ties in with some of our other explorers interests in writing their names, helps children to learn more about their identity, and promotes children’s sense of agency.

First week of school holidays finished. Incredible adventures and memories made. Had one of my ‘graduates’ come back and spend the day with us today, as well as spending today with another one of our families whose children have gone to school. Next week I have another one of our OG families joining us. Then I get this beautiful message to finish my week on 🥰🥰🥰 so much uncertainty in our sector right now, but something im certain of is the deep, respectful and quality relationships family day care fosters. Even years after the children have finished 💜
