At last term's AGM, we elected a new committee ( introductions to come!). But first some thank yous to our past committee members not continuing.
Fee McLean joined the Committee two years ago first as Events and Fundraising rep and then as a general committee member. With only a belief in the power of belonging, a self deprecating sense of humour and an ability to rally people around her to do lots of the heavy lifting, she led a range of events to raise funds and bring our Majura community together.
From democracy sausages and trivia nights to the 2025 Majura Autumn Fete and the Twilight Picnic - Fee was ever present wearing high vis with a phone in one hand (gotta get those sweet pics for socials! ) and a clipboard full of risk assessment documentation (even fun needs a wet weather plan) and long list of volunteers*.
Fee has stood aside from committee duties but intends to still support the P&C events calendar including through the Twilight Picnic end of year celebration. If you want to get involved, join our P&C WhatsApp community here: https://lnk.bio/MajuraPandC
*Did we mention last year's fete brought together over ONE HUNDRED volunteers?! Surely that is some kind of P&C record... What a remarkable community we have!♥️🩵♥️🩵

At last term's AGM we elected a new Committee (introductions to come!) but first we have some thank yous to last year's committee.
Rachael Brown really poured her heart and soul into being convenor for the last two years. She ran our meetings like a pro - making sure everyone had the opportunity to be heard, that we made it through our packed agenda with clear actions and most importantly that we were out in time for the cleaners to come through.
Rachael was also personally involved in just about every P&C activity, turning up to volunteer (see Exhibit A in stylish pink high vis) but also to be part of the event planning team or as a sounding board* for other committee members or events planners. You may have also tuned into the ABC when Rachael 'talking points' Brown put her media training to good use advocating for good outcomes for our school.
Rachael thank you for being an exceptional leader. Our school community is lucky to have you be part of it!

At last term's AGM we elected a new committee (introductions to come!) but first some thank yous to those committee members not continuing on.
They say behind every great event is a spreadsheet… and behind every spreadsheet is Ben Solly .
A massive thank you to our treasurer Ben, who somehow managed to be across every single event and fundraiser over the last two years. I counted at least 38 events/fundraisers 😱😱😱 but for accuracy I should ask Ben - he will have it recorded in a spreadsheet ... 😉
Whether it was balancing the books, chasing receipts, or gently reminding us that “fun” still needs to reconcile, Ben was there making sure everything added up (literally).
We’re not entirely sure how he managed it, or if he just runs on leftover bake sale goods and financial responsibility—but either way, we’re very grateful.
While Ben isn't on the Committee this year he's supporting the smooth running of the uniform shop. Please reach out if you're keen to get involved!

At our AGM last term we elected a new committee (introductions to come! ) but first some thank yous to committee members not continuing this year.
Purdie 'More Rocks and More Logs' Bowden has been a Naturescapes force to be reckoned with. Not content with a Naturescapes working bee refresh, Purdie spearheaded our successful Naturescapes crowdfunding campaign with the most profesh crowdfunding video this (any?) P&C has ever seen! ⛰️ 🪵🌳💲💲💲
She championed for student input into the new design and has worked hard to find every possible saving so the P&C funds can be stretched as far as possible and bring the expansion designs to life. Thank you Purds Bow we can't wait to see the results! ♥️🩵♥️🩵

At our AGM last term we elected a new committee (introductions to come! ) but first some thank yous to committee members not continuing this year.
Rowena Beecham joined the Committee last year aa general member and was generally involved in everything. She was Mango Queen👸👸👸, ensuring smooth delivery of everyone's fave summer fruit, represented Majura at ACT Parents meetings so we can learn from other P&Cs, was one of the chief instigators of The Great Shipping Container CleanUp of 2025 ( not all jobs are glamorous and not all jobs involve using your entire living room as a clean out staging area 😬 - now that's commitment!) and was also an eagle eyed trivia judge (photo evidence provided here).
While not on the committee this year she intends to volunteer on the tools/tongs at many an upcoming event. If you're keen to be involved, you too can be on the tools and possibly have the pleasure of meeting the lovely Rowena. Fi Hedgecoe has been our Uniform Shop Manager for longer than anyone knows! The next time you buy a second hand item for the bargain basement price of $2 cos your kid has lost their third jumper this year ( I know it's not just me...), you can thank Fi, who set up the Majura circular economy. She's also been the driving force behind handmade stalls over Majura fetes both recent and in years gone by and volunteered at approximately a gazillion P&C events over the years.
After ten(?!) years involved in the P&C, Fi is stepping away as her youngest moves on to high school (poor excuse - honestly, where's the commitment these days? 😂)
Please give this lady a high five and a thank you if you see her round the 'hood. 🙌🙌🙌♥️🩵♥️🩵
