We would like to warn our international students about a sophisticated financial scam.

Scammers are posing as government officials and asking for large sums of money to be transferred, threatening deportation and imprisonment.

If you have been targeted by this scam, follow these steps:

1. Contact the ANU Student Safety and Wellbeing Team for support at [email protected] or call 02 6125 2211

2. Report the scam to ACT Policing at a police station or call 131 444

3. Report to the scam to ScamWatch at www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam

Check out ScamWatch’s useful tips to help prevent you from becoming a victim of a scam: www.scamwatch.gov.au/get-help/protect-yourself-from-scams
