Ten years ago, we noticed a gap that nobody else seemed to be addressing.

Laser safety training for health professionals existed, but it wasn't being renewed regularly, and a lot of it wasn't grounded in evidence. Practitioners were being certified against standards that hadn't kept pace with how the treatments were actually being used in clinic.

So we built something different. A program that's evidence-based and clinician-led from the ground up, not adapted from a generic course template.

It's why Bravura works for such a broad mix of people: registered nurses, dermal therapists, beauty therapists, and career-changers coming in from completely different industries (we've had former hairdressers and barbers make the switch).

3 questions to ask before enrolling your staff in any laser training program:

1️⃣ Does it cover the science, or just the machines?

Practitioners who understand tissue interaction can adapt when something unexpected happens. Those who only know the dial settings can't.

2️⃣ Is the learning self-paced or deadline-driven?

Clinic schedules don't bend easily. Training that fits around rosters gets completed. Training that doesn't, gets abandoned.

3️⃣ What does competency actually look like at the end?

A certificate should represent demonstrated understanding - not just hours logged. Ask what assessment looks like before you commit.

"Hands-on training is the only way to really learn laser."

We hear this a lot. And we get it.

But here's what's actually true: if a practitioner doesn't understand the science before they touch a device, hands-on time can reinforce bad habits just as easily as good ones.

The theory isn't the boring part you push through to get to the practical. It is the practical - it's just happening in your head first.

The clinics we see producing the most consistent results are the ones investing in education that builds genuine understanding, not just device familiarity.

Undertrained practitioners are one of the biggest risks in the aesthetics industry right now.

Not undertrained in terms of hours. Undertrained in terms of understanding.

There's a real difference between knowing how to operate a laser and understanding why it works - tissue response, chromophores, fluence, pulse duration.
That deeper knowledge is what separates confident practitioners from anxious ones.

And confidence directly affects outcomes. For the practitioner. For the client. For the clinic's reputation.
