Keep your cool in the heat. The ACT Emergency Services Agency has issued an alert for severe weather conditions for parts of the ACT until Saturday 20 December 2025.☀️

A reminder for our students this week to stay safe in the heat and:

💧 stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
🧢 wear sunscreen, seek shade and wear a hat
🥪 use insulated lunchboxes to keep food at a safe temperature.

Children are more vulnerable to heat-related stress. Our staff will be keeping an eye on the weather over the coming days and modifying activities to help keep everyone safe. If your child feels unwell at school they should let a staff member know immediately.

The 2026 school year Future of Education Equity Fund is now open for applications.

Eligible families who apply early can receive funds in January to use on back-to-school items. The Equity Fund provides a one-off, annual payment to low-income families living in the ACT to help cover education expenses like school uniforms, excursions, sport equipment, activities, and music lessons.

The Equity Fund is open to eligible families with students from preschool to year 12 at all schools across Canberra.

Today, 330 students came together at Shirley Smith High School for the first Step into the Limelight 2025 Massed Choir rehearsal. 🌟

Young singers from Bonython, Chapman, Duffy, Evelyn Scott, Fadden, Farrer, Forrest, Taylor, Telopea and Yarralumla Primary Schools filled the hall with energy and heart. We were particularly impressed at their focus in learning choreography💫

These rehearsals are where the magic begins — hundreds of voices uniting in preparation for the Gala Showcase at the AIS Arena on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 Sep

Hey Canberra – don’t forget that a new bus timetable begins when school returns for term 2 on Monday 28 April 2025! 🚌

Transport Canberra have made improvements based on feedback from the community to help students at more than 30 schools across Canberra. Some school students will see timing changes to better align with the bell times and some students will benefit from refined route changes that provide better coverage for different suburbs.
