On Monday we held our Annual Athletics Carnival

It was a beautiful day out with the sun shining down on a fab day of competition. It was a great effort from all of our athletes from Kinder all the way to Year 6. A MASSIVE thank you must go out to our parent volunteers and our volunteers from Mackillop College - without all of you the day would not have been able to go ahead as well as it did.

Congratulations to Emily, one of our Year 6 students. At last week’s NAIDOC Mass, Emily won the Award for “Culture and Identity” and we are so incredibly proud!

Her nomination for the award read:
Emily displays an outstanding commitment to strengthening cultural pride, inclusion, and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students within our school community.
Emily has shown remarkable passion and leadership, with her personal goal as a Year 6 leader, to create a legacy that ensures Indigenous students feel safe, valued, and supported at school. Recognising the importance of cultural connection and belonging, she took the initiative to establish a Culture Club called ‘Kids of Country’. While still in its early days, her initiative aims to provide students with opportunities to learn about, celebrate, and share Indigenous culture in a welcoming and respectful environment.
Through her leadership, courage, and commitment, Emily has become a positive role model for her peers and has made a meaningful impact on our school.

It is also important that we congratulate Sean O, a Year 5 student, who has also been a valuable leader of this initiative. Emily’s goal is for him to take the lead next year after she leaves for high school, passing the torch 🩵

It’s been an emotional week as we said farewell to our beloved Principal, Mr Cameron Johns. On Tuesday we held a staff afternoon tea, listened to speeches and memories with tears and laughter. Today we held a very special assembly. Students sang songs for Mr Johns (one written by a very talented staff member). Gifts were presented, speeches were made. Yes, more tears.
Mr Johns has lead our community for 6 1/2 years. As he started here, so did Covid, definitely not the usual start to a new job. We hope his new position at CE will have a more gentle start 😀

Cameron has guided us with humility, gentleness, humour, faith and love. He is one of life’s true gentlemen, he is loved and he will be missed. 💜

Our school is named after two saints, St Peter and St Paul. Yesterday we celebrated their feast day. In Fr James' absence, Fr Richard celebrated Mass with us. He included a special blessing for our beloved Principal, Cameron Johns, who is leaving us this week. Throughout the day, students engaged thoughtfully in learning about St Peter and St Paul, exploring their unique stories, their deep faith, and the important role they played in shaping the early Church. Through these activities, students gained a deeper appreciation of how these saints continue to inspire us today. As a school, we are encouraged by the example of Sts Peter and Paul.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us in making this a special and memorable celebration.

After a cold start to the morning, the weather turned into a beautiful day for our Kindergarten and Year 1 excursion to the zoo yesterday! ☀️

Students enjoyed seeing a range of amazing animals, learning about wildlife and spending time together exploring everything the zoo had to offer. It was a fun-filled day and a wonderful opportunity to learn beyond the classroom. 👏🏼

Snow, blue skies, great instructors, sporty teachers, happy children .... What more could we ask for on our first snow trip!

To support the Socceroos today, we held the Fifa MBot Soccer World Cup in the Hall with Year 3. The score was a draw, but fiercely competitive.

On Thursday, Kinder and Year 1 came together for a liturgy with the support of our Year 6 leaders. It was such a special way to spend time together and reflect on our theme this term, focusing on our discipleship through Jesus’ call: “Love one another as I have loved you.” Thank you to those parents who were able to join us for this special occasion.

Fun day yesterday! Our marketing guru from CE came, along with a videographer, to shoot promotional videos so we can share how wonderful our school is. Coordinated by Mrs P, with lots of help from staff, parents & students, it was a very busy but productive day. It will take at least a couple of weeks to finalise the video but watch this space! 🎥😀
