A small-by-design high school, offering students flexible and supportive learning experiences.

Connections High School will be a small-by-design high school offering students in Years 7-10 an alternative, safe learning community. The school will be designed to support students with additional social and emotional needs, including neurodivergent students, and those dealing with mental health issues. Our school will be a sanctuary for young individuals who find mainstream educational settings

What a fabulous way to end Week 3 - celebrating the glue that holds our Connections community together- the mothers and carers of our fabulous students.

It was great to see the kids coming together to prepare the decorations and food, and to clean up the entire school and set it up beautifully for afternoon tea.

Such a lovely shared experience for staff, students and families. Thank you for being part of our school community.

And a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the other mums and special carers in our wider Connections community Your support and encouragement helps us keep believing that what we are doing matters.

We made it through our very first Term 1!
Thank you to our fabulous staff, students and families.

It has definitely been a big term as students have settled in, got into routines and re-engaged with learning. There have been many wins, some losses and many lessons learned. And through it all we have maintained our focus on doing our best for our students.

Our students seem happy and keep coming back so that is a definite win. Many of them have attended more days of school in the past term than they have in the past few years. They are generally starting to really get into the swing of their learning. They are making friends (some for the first time) and navigating complex social situations. They are creative, funny, kind and unique individuals who accept each other for who they are. I am so proud of them and feel privileged to get to spend time with them.

And that's a wrap on Day 1 with students. ALL 64 STUDENTS joined us today. There were plenty of anxious moments and nervous energy from staff and students alike, but we had a great day. We spent the day starting to get comfortable, meeting each other, moving through the classes, hanging out with Faye and Poppy (the therapy dogs), and building our Connections community. Thank you so much to each and every family who trusted us with their amazing young people today. We are truly blessed to get to spend our days with them.

We are so very nearly there with having what we need for the school start up, thanks to all your generosity. There are a few specific things I am planning on going out to buy tomorrow so I thought I would ask here first in case anyone has them:

Heavy outdoor table with benches or heavy park benches
Basketball hoop (looking for the cantilevered type so the ball doesn't ruin the base)
A couple of rugs, particularly one suitable to put in the foyer
A quiet blender,
4 x graters
Coloured plastic chopping boards
A slushie maker
Extension cords
Power boards
Outdoor ping pong table
Medium sized Indoor plants
Whisks

If you are looking to pass on any of the above please PM me or comment below and I will be in touch.

Many thanks,
Trish

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
With the amazing generosity of our community we have filled our library, our games area, our sewing, knitting and crafting supplies, our cooking classes boxes and our kitchen. And we’ve even made a start at adding some greenery.

And with the incredibly generous response to our GoFundMe campaign we will purchase Science equipment, outdoor equipment and furniture, and some tools and resources for design technology and arts.

I am truly humbled and grateful to be surrounded by and supported by such a wonderful community.
