P&C legends Rhonda Ball and Rebecca Reilly were among those celebrated at the inaugural ACT Parents P&C Awards last month.

Rhonda (Theodore Primary P&C) and Rebecca (Wanniassa Hills Primary P&C) have each dedicated 16 years of service to their school’s P&C. They were the joint recipients of the Lifetime Contribution Award at the P&C Awards.

The judges said the pair had “left an incredible legacy of community, connection, and care that will be felt for years to come”.

The new awards celebrate the teamwork, community spirit, drive, dedication and heart P&C volunteers display as they strive to make a difference in ACT public schools each year.

The other recipients for 2025 were:

Community Connector Award: Fee McLean – Majura Primary P&C
Fee helped transform her P&C by focusing on community and connection, turning low-cost events into opportunities for families to come together - and in the process, built a strong volunteer team and thriving school spirit.

Behind the Scenes Hero Award: Synden Linsley (Bonython Primary P&C) and Libby Melton (Calwell High P&C)
Quiet achievers who keep everything running smoothly, Synden and Libby are the backbone of their P&Cs - organised, dedicated, and always ready to help.

Foodie Fundraising Legend: Giralang Primary P&C
The N**e Food initiative brings together community spirit, sustainability, and healthy eating - serving up nutritious, homemade meals that support both students and future projects.

Innovation in Fundraising Award: Hawker Primary P&C
Their creative “Wrap the Shapps” toilet paper mummification fundraiser (yes, you read that right...) brought laughter, friendly competition, and a boost in funds - proving that fundraising can be clever, inclusive, and a whole lot of fun!

Grant Whisperer Award: Kelly Tanner (Forrest Primary P&C)
Kelly’s tireless efforts have secured valuable grants that improve school facilities and support inclusion, making a lasting difference for students and families.

Endless Energy Award: Tracey Barker (Macgregor Primary P&C)
A true powerhouse, Tracey has led countless events, managed multiple roles, and brought contagious enthusiasm to every part of school life - all while juggling family and work with a smile.

Last Minute Legend Award: Southern Cross Early Childhood School P&C
For pulling off fantastic events under pressure - and proving that teamwork and determination make anything possible!

Exceptional P&C Employee Award: Ali Sewter (Forrest Out of School Hours Care) and Carolin Buljan (Neville Bonner Primary Canteen)

Recognised for excellence in leadership and care, Ali and Carolin go above and beyond to create special experiences for school communities.

Congratulations to all the award recipients, nominees and organisers, and indeed to all who have given their time and energy to their school by serving or supporting their P&C this year.
