Fellow show presenters, get involved in science show research!

Dear Science Show Presenters!

As you know, audiences may experience many emotions while watching a science show. This study explores the emotions that presenters want audiences to experience when they present science shows.

If you are a science show presenter and you are over 18 years old, please take part in this short survey [before 28 Feb 2026]. Please only complete the survey once (even if you receive it through different channels). It should take no longer than 5-7 minutes to complete. Please feel free to share this link with other science show presenters that you know.

By completing this survey you are giving your informed consent for the results to be gathered, analysed and presented (anonymously). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the researcher (Ruadh Duggan): [email protected].

Happy International Volunteer day! We need more of this in our world right now! If you're interested in volunteering in the science centre/communication space, or for my overseas friends hosting an Australian Volunteer at your organisation, get in touch.

And full points to the Australian Volunteers Program for bringing it all together!

Learn about finger prints from the enthusiastic team at Imagine Science Samoa... and you also can learn some Samoan language too! Very neat to see it done bilingually and so embedded in the local curriculum, impactful stuff :)

Thanks to everyone who came along for my It's Electrifying science shows over the holidays! Standout highlights included a family ride on the electric hoverboard, sisters blasting eachother with leaf-blowers as we generated wind energy, Piston Pete's bottom narrowly avoiding combustion, and finally not getting in trouble for riding an electric skateboard through a library!

For info on electrifying your house check out https://energy.act.gov.au/

And stay tuned for a new super fun show all about the joy, wonder and giggles that science provides when we let our curiosity loose - coming soon!

Big thanks to Libraries ACT and the team at ANU Centre for the Public Awareness of Science CPAS... and the ACT Government Community Net Zero grants for making it possible

It's Electrifying! Science Show

Is a solar-powered dragracer a good idea for indoor use? Does a normal car seriously toot out carbon dioxide emissions – and how? And where can I charge my Hoverboard?

Canberra households and vehicles are going electric, and Dr Graham’s been busy in the GarageLabTM working on new, improved and much more electrifying experiments. Through amazing, interactive, fun, and sometimes explosive science demonstrations we’ll learn how fuels like natural gas can be replaced with electricity, plus discover groovy new low-emission high-fun tech like electric skateboards. This ANU Centre for the Public Awareness of Science CPAS community engagement project is presented with assistance from the ACT Government under the Community Zero Emissions Grants Program.
