This week our Nursery 2 children enjoyed a sensory rich play experience with chia seed slime.

Using measuring cups, balls and natural leaves, the children investigated different textures, scooped and poured and discovered how materials feel and move. These hands on experiences help develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, early mathematical concepts and curiosity about the natural world.

What a wonderful way to learn through play 🌿💚

🌿 Connection with the Land 🌿

Our Preschool children regularly explore traditional games and experiences that strengthen their connection to Country. Through play and learning, they develop an appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and ways of knowing.

At Goodstart Kambah, we proudly learn, play, and care on Ngunnawal Country. 💛🖤❤️

“All In”? You bet we are! 💛🖤❤️
Yarning Circles have become an embedded part of our daily learning routine across all classrooms at Goodstart Kambah.
This is a glimpse into what we do and who we are. Including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our everyday routines and learning experiences is important to us. Through Yarning Circles, children are provided with opportunities to connect, listen, share, learn, and develop a deeper understanding of culture, community, and belonging.

💙 Investing in our educators means investing in your children.

At Goodstart Kambah Early Learning, we are committed to creating the best possible outcomes for every child. That’s why we regularly invest in professional learning opportunities for our educators, teachers, and leadership team.

Last Thursday, our team had the privilege of learning alongside colleagues from Goodstart Early Learning Garran and Goodstart Early Learning Isaacs during a specialised Inclusion Professional Development evening facilitated by Goodstart Senior Inclusion Specialist, Luba Torban.

Together, we explored what meaningful inclusion looks like in practice and how we can ensure every child feels safe, valued, respected, and supported to reach their full potential.

One message stood out throughout the evening:

✨ “Every child deserves a champion in their life.”

We believe that children thrive when families, educators, specialists, and the wider community work together. Through ongoing training, reflection, and collaboration, we continue to strengthen our skills and knowledge so we can provide the highest quality care and education for all children.

Because every child deserves to belong, to be heard, and to succeed. 🌱

Our Nursery children enjoyed a lovely walk around the neighbourhood this week 🍂☀️

Although the weather is getting cooler, outdoor experiences continue to play an important role in supporting children’s health, wellbeing and development. Time spent outdoors provides opportunities for fresh air, movement and exploration, while also supporting Vitamin D absorption, strengthening immunity and building resilience and confidence.

During our walk, the children observed their surroundings, listened to the sounds of the community and experienced the changing season through nature. These everyday experiences help foster a sense of belonging and connection to the world around them.

The 4 month sleep regression isn’t actually a regression.

It’s really a sleep progression — your baby’s sleep cycles are maturing and changing.

The 4 month sleep regression hit me HARD with my first baby.

Mostly because everyone warned me it was coming… and I remember feeling so anxious about it.

Looking back now, there are a few things I wish someone had told me sooner.

Here are 4 things I wish someone had told me before the 4 month sleep regression:

1️⃣ It’s a developmental change — not something that’s “going wrong.”
Your baby’s sleep cycles are maturing. And this can actually be the perfect window to start supporting independent sleep.

2️⃣ “Waiting it out” doesn’t work for every baby.
For many babies, sleep has permanently changed at this age. A lot of families I work with at 6+ months are still waiting for it to pass.

3️⃣ What you do now sets the foundation.
There are no bad habits or right or wrong choices — but if independent sleep is your goal, 4 months can be a great time to start supporting those skills.

4️⃣ Babies can learn to self-settle surprisingly quickly.
With the right guidance and support, many babies can start learning these skills within just a few days.

With both Ryder and Archie, I had a clear plan at 4 months and they learned to self-settle within days.

If you’re in the 4 month sleep regression right now, you don’t have to just wait it out. 🤎
