Year 7 students recently put their smoothie designs to the test as part of a Health inquiry unit focused on making informed decisions about health and wellbeing.
Working in teams, students were challenged to design a smoothie for a specific customer, considering nutrition, taste, inclusion, practicality and cost. After refining their concepts and recipes, they presented their final products to a judging panel that included Jeremy and Morgan from Frankies at Forde.
Having a local business owner involved gave students valuable real-world feedback and encouraged them to consider whether their product would appeal to customers and work in a real café setting.
Thank you to the team at Frankies at Forde for supporting this authentic learning experience and helping our students connect health, creativity and business thinking.

On Saturday, students from Burgmann Anglican School's Chamber Music Program joined the Choir of All Saints Ainslie for To the Soul's Quiet Harbour, an afternoon of chamber and choral music in the historic All Saints Anglican Church, Ainslie - ACT.
The concert showcased the skill, musicianship and dedication of our young performers, bringing together student musicians and experienced choristers in a valued partnership between Burgmann and All Saints.
Congratulations to all students who performed, and thank you to our music staff, Nicole Nunan, Lyn Woodgate and Rita Woodhouse, for their leadership and support.
Performances such as these are an important part of our Chamber Music Program, providing students with opportunities to collaborate, perform in professional settings and share their music with the wider community.
Many of these students will now represent Burgmann at the Wollongong Eisteddfod this weekend, and we wish them every success.

Our footballers were fortunate to spend time today with former Burgmann student Campbell Reid, who returned to the School while visiting Australia from the UK.
After leaving Burgmann in Year 9 to pursue football opportunities in England, Campbell has continued his football journey while studying at university in Manchester and playing semi-professional football with clubs including Nantwich Town and Trafford FC.
Working alongside Burgmann Head of Football and Coerver Coaching's Richard Terry, who first coached Campbell as a young player, Campbell shared skills, advice and experiences from his football journey with current students.
It was a valuable opportunity for our players to learn from someone who has pursued the sport at a high level and who was keen to give back to the next generation of footballers.
Thank you, Campbell, for spending time with our students.

Burgmann’s Year 11 and 12 Drama students recently took part in Canberra Theatre Centre’s Act Up! program, a full day of creative and performance-based learning designed to immerse students in professional theatre practice, with a few familiar faces even appearing in an ABC Canberra news segment covering the event.
Across the day, students participated in workshops exploring puppetry, clowning and technical theatre, attended a live performance and rehearsed on the Playhouse stage before presenting their own original devised works.
This year’s performances explored complex contemporary themes, including the influence of technology and social media on relationships, and the dangers of censorship and blind obedience within a dystopian political setting.
Performing in a professional theatre environment gave students the opportunity to further develop their confidence, collaboration and performance skills, while also experiencing the creative discipline and critical thinking that underpin contemporary drama practice.

National Reconciliation Week invites all Australians to reflect on our shared histories, cultures and futures, and on the role each of us plays in the journey of reconciliation.
This year’s theme, All In, reminds us that reconciliation is not passive. It calls on all of us to listen, learn, build relationships and take meaningful action.
At Burgmann, reconciliation is not confined to a single week. It is reflected in the relationships we continue to build with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, in the learning that takes place across our classrooms and in the way we seek to visibly demonstrate respect for First Nations histories and cultures throughout our School.
Featured here is Healing on Country, commissioned for Burgmann by Ngunnawal artist Richie Allan. Representing regeneration and healing, the artwork reflects the importance of connection to Country, to community and to one another. Centred around a shared meeting place, it speaks to the ongoing journey of reconciliation and our shared responsibility to care for each other and the world around us.
National Reconciliation Week provides an important opportunity for reflection and learning, while also reminding us that reconciliation is shaped through everyday actions, conversations and commitments across our community.

Three Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journeys. Four days on the NSW South Coast.
Last week, Burgmann students undertaking Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards travelled between Tathra and Eden alongside students from Radford College, completing a series of concurrent Adventurous Journeys.
Students carried everything they needed on their backs, planned and cooked their own meals, navigated unfamiliar terrain and worked together through bushwalking, kayaking, canoeing and campcraft challenges.
One group even constructed rafts from timber beams and plastic drums to transport themselves and their equipment across Bithry Inlet.
Along the way there were wet boots, heavy packs, campfires, shared meals and plenty of problem-solving, all part of the experience of learning to work together and push beyond comfort zones.
A special highlight for the Year 12 Gold group was being joined by Helen White, CEO of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Australia, during part of their Light-to-Light walk and paddle along the Towamba River.
Thank you to Mr Broadbent, Mr Langer, Rev Kath Rainger, Mrs Sue Hassall and Coastlife Adventures for supporting students throughout the experience.
