The number of outbreaks of gastro in ACT childcare centres last month were three times higher than average. Do your part to help prevent the spread of gastro.

🤮 💩 If your child is vomiting or has diarrhoea, keep them at home until 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped.
✋🏼 🧼 Make sure everyone at home practises good hand hygiene to prevent the spread to other household members.

Today was a huge achievement! We climbed the Kokoda track up Mount Ainslie 2yrs ago I would have gotten 1/3 of the way up and walked back down. My body and my brain would have given up but I’m so glad I was able to make it to the top (close enough) with these 2 little munchkins and puppy. To be honest they are what kept me going, they look up to me and watch everything I do! I want to show them that anything is possible if we have the positive attitude to keep going. We may not have made it to the very top (time permitting) but we were so close (plus I wasn’t keen on pulling that pram up anymore stairs 🤣) they hardly complained and walked up most of it (taking turns in the pram and Tula) at the top we stopped for a quick afternoon tea before heading back to the car. The compliments from other walkers also kept me going. I am oh soo proud of these two and how they stuck it out! As soon as their heads hit the pillow they were out!

“See a child differently, You see a different child” - Dr Stuart Shanker

When you’re in a rush and a child is “misbehaving” we have to step back and try to see the other factors involved.

Sometimes as adults we don’t see the other barriers or obstacles that might be in the way for our little ones. We just see the job that needs doing and need it done. When we address these obstacles and barriers we help the child to know that we are with them in overcoming these and help build strong independent little people.

As a nanny I love to see my little ones overcome challenges that they may face daily and become strong and independent people. I want them to know that I’ll be right by their side to knock over these barriers and that I’ll be there to pick them up when they fall. It’s okay to fall.
