Be familiar with the classics.

So much of the storytelling we know today is rooted in Greek mythology, Shakespeare, ancient legends and classic literature. Knowing these stories gives actors a deeper understanding of character, conflict, archetypes and the references that still show up in scripts today.

Acting Tip of the Week

Don’t just wait for direction - make offers.

Directors love actors who bring ideas to the rehearsal room. Make bold, truthful choices, explore different possibilities, and give the director something to shape. A strong offer shows initiative, creativity, and a deep understanding of the character.

The worst they can say is, “Let’s try something else.” But if you never make an offer, you might miss discovering something brilliant.
