University of Canberra Student-Led Clinic Webinars is back!

Our talented current group of final year Physiotherapy Students at the UC Health Clinics are presenting the latest on 2 common sporting injuries as part of our collaboration with the UC elite athlete network.

Introducing our final speaker: Katie Vine!

Katie Vine is an extended scope of practice physiotherapist and has worked in the Canberra Hospital Emergency Department for a decade. Her current roles includes running the orthopaedic surgical screening clinic as well as a specialist role in the Emergency Department. She has a long history in investigating and implementing extended scope of physiotherapy roles and is current the chair is the APA Advanced Musculoskeletal Practice Advisory Panel. She was one of the lead Project Officers with the Health Workforce Australia Expanded Scope of Practice Project. She has a long involvement with the APA from student representative, to ACT president and held a seat on the Board of Directors from 2012 to 2016.

Introducing our next speaker: Dr Lesley Goff!

Lesley is one of the world’s leading Animal Physiotherapists. Lesley has a PhD in Animal physiotherapy,
investigating the kinematics and morphology of the equine sacroiliac joint. In addition to her Physiotherapy
degree, Lesley completed post-graduate studies in Manipulative Physiotherapy and holds Master’s in Animal Physiotherapy and Exercise & Sport Sciences.

Introducing our next speaker: Dr Elise Gane!

Dr Elise Gane will provide an insight into physiotherapy practice in the fields of oncology, palliative care and lymphoedema. She is an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and is currently the National Chair for the Cancer, Palliative Care and Lymphoedema group. She graduated as a physiotherapist from The University of Queensland (UQ) with Honours Class 1 and a University Medal for her academic achievement. Dr Gane did her PhD on the functional recovery of the upper quadrant after neck dissection surgery for head and neck cancer. She is currently the Physiotherapy Conjoint Research Fellow between UQ and Princess Alexandra Hospital Physiotherapy Department. Her areas of research interest include oncology rehabilitation (specifically head and neck cancer), lymphoedema, peripheral neuropathy, physical activity, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, vocational rehabilitation, and health service delivery.
