It’s almost here! Join us this Saturday for our 360 Early Education Throsby Community Clothing Swap! 🌈♻️

Come along, have a browse and give some pre-loved children’s clothing a new home! 💚
Our clothing swap is all about sharing within our community, reducing waste and helping families pass on clothes their little ones have outgrown. ♻️🌏
👚 Bring along any good-quality children’s clothing you no longer need
🛍️ Take home items your family can use
💰 No money needed – it’s a SWAP!
🤝 Everyone in our local community is welcome!
We have been collecting lots of donations and can’t wait to see everything find a new home.

NAIDOC Week is celebrated each July, recognising the history, culture, and achievements of First Nations peoples. This year, the celebration ran from 5–12 July, with the theme 50 Years Deadly, marking 50 years of NAIDOC.

While we incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and learning experiences throughout the year, we also take the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate NAIDOC Week.

Throughout the week, the children participated in a range of meaningful experiences, including exploring symbols and their meanings, weaving, Dreaming stories, and visiting Country at Mulligans Flat. Our highlight was once again welcoming Cooper on Thursday afternoon to lead a Smoking Ceremony with the children.

🦁🐒 Adventures at the National Zoo & Aquarium! 🐧🦦

Over the past few weeks, children from the Turtles, Frogs and Crocs rooms have been enjoying visits to the National Zoo & Aquarium, heading out in small groups of nine to explore, discover and learn more about the animals.

Along the way, we've spotted lions, monkeys, otters, meerkats, penguins and many more fascinating creatures! We’ve shared picnic lunches while listening to tigers roar, admired statues and water features, giggled as a snake unexpectedly slipped from a branch, and enthusiastically searched for and counted the animals in each enclosure.

While the animals certainly captured our attention, some of the children's favourite moments were a little unexpected. Among the highlights they shared when reflecting were ‘the bus’ and the sultanas we enjoyed during Morning Tea! 😆

🌷 Floriade in the Community 🌷

It’s that exciting time of year again! We have once again been accepted into the Floriade Community program, giving us the opportunity to create a garden at the front of our centre.

A group of children and educators rolled up their sleeves and got to work preparing the garden beds. Together, they dug the soil, planted bulbs, and learned about how to care for the garden.

We’ve since added some pansies and violas on top, and the children are already looking forward to watching the garden transform over the coming months.
We may have a challenge ahead of us keeping the cockatoos away, but we’re excited to see them bloom! 🌱🌼🌸

🍕 Pizza-Making Fun in the Crocs Room! 🍕
After weeks of talking about and requesting pizza-making, the children in our Crocs Room were excited to finally bring their idea to life!
Working collaboratively with an educator, the children created a shopping list of all the ingredients they would need before a small group then headed to the local Woolworths to shop. Beforehand, we explored the Woolworths website together, helping the children identify the products visually and prepare for their shopping experience.
Back at the centre, the children eagerly helped to prepare the ingredients, practising their chopping and food preparation skills. Each child then created their own mini pizza, choosing and arranging their favourite toppings to make it uniquely theirs.
At afternoon tea, everyone enjoyed tasting their creations. This encouraged teamwork, independence, decision-making, and creativity—and most importantly, it was lots of fun!

For the next two weeks, we're excited to welcome some special guests to Throsby…a Hatching Chicks Program! 🐣✨

We'll be caring for a number of eggs and newly hatched chicks, giving the children the opportunity to observe, interact with, and learn from them each day.

This hands-on experience allows children to authentically explore the chick hatching process and develop an understanding of what it takes to care for animals — all while enjoying plenty of adorable cuddles along the way.
It's always a much-loved experience for the children, educators, and families alike!
