AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices in Australia.

On Monday 27 July, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

The test times across Australian time zones are:
β€’ 2:00 pm AEST (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS)
β€’ 1:30 pm ACST (SA, NT, Broken Hill NSW)
β€’ 12:00 pm AWST (WA)

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds. If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

Australia continues to welcome international students from around the world! πŸ‘‹πŸŒ

The Australian Government has announced its annual β€˜National Planning Level’ (NPL) for new international student commencements (NOSCs). πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“

In 2027, the NPL will remain at 295,000 commencements, the same as in 2026. This is not a cap or a limit on student numbers, it is a planning level to manage the size of the international education program, helping maintain the highest quality student experience. πŸŽ―βœ…

The NPL is supported by a Student visa application prioritisation system, with applications processed as Priority 1 (high priority) until the chosen provider reaches 80% of their commencements allocation. After this, further visa applications are still accepted for that provider but are processed more slowly.
πŸ›ƒ

Any genuine international student who meets the Student visa requirements can still apply and be granted a visa. πŸ“

These arrangements are designed to maintain a positive and high-quality experience for all students, ensuring Australia remains a top study destination globally. πŸ…
