Working with students to help them reach their writing goals, using functional grammar, helps them better express their views and construct coherent written texts. The idea behind this approach is that language is dynamic, a complex system of resources for making meaning, and our language choices can change from one situation to the next.

Identifying and playing with a variety of examples for 'participants' 'processes' and circumstances' empowers my students to experiment with language, make connections, and consider the function of the words or phrases in the context they are used. And it's heaps of fun too!

Playing fun maths games to consolidate learnt multiplication strategies is a great way to engage my students. They often have so much fun and want to play them at home too.

Developing a conceptual understanding of multiplication and learning strategies, rather than rote learning times tables, is exciting and really helpful when it comes to working with bigger numbers.
