Indonesia celebrated their 81st anniversary of their declaration of Independence on Monday 17th August and Camperdown College students joined in with celebrations participating in a number of activities across the week. Junior Campus students joined the ‘kerja bakti’ activity, which involved a yard clean to beautify the school surroundings as well as playing ‘sepak bola sarung’ (sarong soccer) at lunchtime. Brain breaks at the Senior Campus were inspired by Indonesian Independence day games and students played lomba paku masuk botol (nail into the bottle competition), lomba makan kerupuk (cracker eating competition) and lomba bola (tunnel ball competition).

Our Year 3/4 All Stars took the court in Terang on Friday and made the college proud with their efforts on and off the court. Our girls narrowly finished in 3rd place and our boys 4th. It was pleasing to see the sportsmanship and positive behaviour displayed throughout the day.

Our Junior Campus students celebrated National Science Week 2026 this week with the theme ‘Seeds of Science – Nurturing Knowledge for All.’

Students enjoyed a week of hands-on science, exploring bubbles, plants, seeds, wind, flight and seed dispersal through fun experiments and challenges. From LEGO plant builds and seed detective activities to kite flying and seed races, there was plenty of curiosity, creativity and scientific thinking on display!

It was fantastic to see our students asking questions, testing ideas and discovering the science all around us. Let’s continue to grow a love of science at Camperdown College!

It was great to see such a good response to the final Transition Taster session yesterday at the Senior Campus. Students made a cake in a mug in Food Technology, choosing between vanilla and chocolate. They then moved to Art and created a mini mixed media artwork that was inspired by a particular sentence. Year 7 Coordinator, Ms Mann, was impressed with the level of engagement and enthusiasm for both activities today. Well done everyone!

Students from the Junior Campus participated in Kids Helpline’s largest anti-bullying lesson as part of Bullying No Way Week, with this year’s theme Small Acts, Big Impact.

Students heard from Kids Helpline counsellors, who shared key messages about what to do when you are being bullied or when you see it happening to someone else. They highlighted the importance of being an upstander and knowing their trusted people, the adults they can go to when they need help, feel worried or are unsure about what to do.

Classes enjoyed reading the book ‘Have You Filled a Bucket Today?’, which highlights the importance of kindness and encouraging others by filling their buckets rather than 'dipping' into them. Following the story, our Respectful Relationships Leaders led a fun activity where students had the opportunity to create their own buckets and think about ways they can spread kindness and positivity throughout our school community.

Year 9 students Kate, Mia and Elisha have been working behind the scenes in the Library to start up a fun, lunchtime book club. Tomorrow, their dream is becoming a reality as they will host the inaugural event!

The book club is open to all Senior Campus students and staff and is open to any text you may be reading! Bring a current read, a favourite ever, a magazine, something that interests you personally and share what you love about it.

Book club will be held every second Friday (odd weeks - 5, 7, and 9) for Term 3 in the Senior Campus Library. See you there!

Two Senior Campus students, Kate and Harrison have been shortlisted for the Collins Warrnambool Great South West Young Writer's Prize. The competition, in its second year, allows students across South West Victoria from Year 4-9 to flex their creative writing muscle and create wonderful stories to share. This year, Kate and Harrison will have their stories read and judged by Children's Book Council of Australia, Prime Minister's Literary Award and the YABBA children's choice book award shortlisted author Tristan Bancks.

To be shortlisted above hundreds of other entries is a phenomenal achievement, congratulations to Kate and Harrison!

Year 12 Physical Education students have been participating in a variety of fitness sessions so far this term, focused on various training methods. They have participated in short interval, circuit, resistance (muscular endurance), plyometrics and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) both at school and, most recently, at Infinite Health Co gym.

Students have been learning about appropriate repetitions, sets, intensities and work to rest ratios in order to be able to design training programs for themselves or others - just like professional coaches!
