Students participating in the Automotive Elective and Scrap Heap Adventure Ride Bike restoration project, decided the spark plugs would need changing and this meant the lower airbox cover needed to be removed. Leroy an enthusiastic and budding bike mechanic removed the airbox base only to find our carby's were surprisingly clean. He also discovered a broken coolant pipe, this will need replacing and removal allowed the contents to spill all over the floor of the shed......it STANK like FISH.....really!, fish juice went everywhere.....but its drained now and we can order the new parts.

Our students took part in an exciting Lomandra School Immersion Program excursion to the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium.
The visit gave students the opportunity to compare the rich history of the iconic SCG with the modern facilities at Allianz Stadium, while also learning about the wide range of careers and employment opportunities involved in hosting major sporting and entertainment events.

Scrapheap Challenge Update:
Today in Automotive, we continued working on our exciting Scrapheap Challenge motorbike project. The students rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into stripping the bike down even further.
This week we removed the plastic panels, bash plates, and hand grips and to our surprise, this old bike even had heated grips! Some parts were definitely a challenge to remove, with many of the screws and bolts heavily rusted after the bike had spent years lying on its side in a paddock under a tree.
Despite the challenges, the students showed fantastic teamwork, persistence, and problem-solving skills to get the job done. After last weekโs encounters with the many creatures that had made the bike their home, including the very large spider that gave quite a few of us a fright, this week we came prepared with plenty of spray! But of course, wasnโt needed.
Everyone got their hands dirty helping to clean out years of dirt, leaves, mud, and other waste that had built up inside and around the bike. We also removed the fuel tank and air box, and surprisingly, the inside of the air box was incredibly clean!
It has been great to see the studentโs building confidence with tools, learning new mechanical skills, and working together to bring this forgotten motorbike back to life.
Keep following our Scrapheap Challenge adventures โ who knows what surprises and discoveries next week will bring!

Today, Lomandra School came together to commemorate Anzac Day. Our students and staff participated in a respectful ceremony, reflecting on the significance of the day and recognising the courage and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women, past and present.
A highlight of the service was the playing of The Last Post, followed by a minuteโs silence, as our school community paused to pay their respects. Readings about the history of Anzac Day and the laying of wreaths contributed to a thoughtful and respectful tribute.
Lest we forget.
