On 31 July our year 5 & 6 Students gathered for the Mini Vinnies Winter Sleepout dressed in warm clothing and bringing with them their own cardboard boxes and sleeping bags. After sharing a meal of noodles students separated into their own spots in the dark for an hour to simulate the deep loneliness and isolation that homeless people face every night.
A guest speaker from St Vincent de Paul then spoke to the group about the harsh realities of homelessness on cold winter nights and the crucial work Vinnies does to help those in need.

Thank you to our amazing school community for supporting our St. Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal! Together, we donated food, knitted items, and raised a fantastic $518 on our winter warmers m***i day.

Where the money goes: 100% stays in Campbelltown.

The impact: Helping Vinnies provide food relief, essentials, and warm clothes to local families facing homelessness and poverty.

Thank you for reflecting the heart of Jesus and making a real difference this winter!

The Year 6 cohort has been hard at work tackling real-world environmental challenges right here at St John's. They have identified areas where our school can improve its ecological footprint, and we have designed practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions to fix them. A showcase of their learning was organised for classes to attend on Tuesday, 30 June.

On Friday 12 June, Year 1 students travelled by bus to Symbio Wildlife Park. We enjoyed looking out the windows on the way and saw lots of natural and built features along the journey.
Once we arrived at Symbio, we gathered as a grade to watch a Reptile Show, where we learnt many new facts about crocodiles, blue-tongue lizards, shingleback lizards and snakes. During the show, we used our "gentle patting fingers" and discussed how the animals felt—including bumpy, scaly and smooth.
Throughout the day, we explored the park in class groups and saw various examples of animals living in different habitats. A clear highlight of the day was feeding the hungry goats and playful kangaroos.

Our School Disco was a big hit! No pun intended. It was wonderful to see so many of our students have so much fun on Friday night! Thank you to all our parent helpers and the P & F who helped make it happen.

Yesterday we had 10 teams from St. John’s attend the western region netball gala day.
Although the weather was not the best, the students enjoyed playing a few games of netball, showing great sportsmanship and all had lots of fun.
Thank you to our parent volunteers who coached and our teachers and sso’s for working with our teams.

Year 4 had an absolute blast on their excursion last Friday to the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary in Bargo. We spotted iconic Emis and got a close look at some energetic Tasmanian Devils. The students showed incredible bravery while marveling at some slithering snakes and experienced the charm of a Tawny Frogmouth named Terry.
