Each year the children, families and team at Camira Kindy create a reconciliation artwork together that reflects our community's heart for reconciliation, with inspiration drawn from the meaning of the reconciliation week artwork.
Otis Hope Carey is the artist who designed the 2026 Reconciliation poster. ‘Gaagal’. He says, ‘Concentric circles are traditional symbols which are exaggerated and expanded out to represent water and the way it may move in ripples when struck
by rain, wind, or if a rock were to hit its surface. This echoes the action of people moving together for change, their voices and actions rippling outwards, inviting others on the reconciliation journey.'
We created 'Ripples of Reconciliation.' as a reminder of the effect our attitudes and voice can have on reconciliation. Our community wrote messages of reconciliation on raindrops and the children created their own paper and their words reflect their thanks for how the Aboriginal people have, and continue to care for this land.

A year ago our team reflected on our own skill and knowledge of art processes and decided we had a lot to learn. We sourced a professional development opportunity and attended a print making workshop with the wonderful Lee Fullerton. Since then we have become confident with the medium of print making and in particular the use of Gelli pads . The children love to create using this medium and have become independent in this fun process that provides them with endless opportunities to communicate their understandings about themselves and the world around them. We are now learning to turn our hand made papers into a collage picture - tearing these papers to create a story. Loving this medium!!!!

🌄’They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.” - Laurence Binyon
