Just a reminder to our wonderful parents/carers - this is your chance to share your experiences with how schools support students with reading difficulties:
Calling all Queensland parents and carers of children with reading difficulties
QUT Ethics Approval Number: 7688
Are you the parent/carer of a child with reading difficulties who attends a Queensland primary school? And did you seek non-school-based reading intervention (such as a private reading tutor) to specifically help with your child’s reading difficulties? If so, you are invited to participate in a research study exploring parent perspectives on schools’ provision of interventions for students with persistent reading difficulties.
This research involves parent focus groups to better understand family experiences with school-based literacy support and what motivates parents to seek outside of school reading support for their child. Focus groups are small, informal group discussions where parents are invited to share their thoughts and experiences around reading support and literacy intervention. These sessions are guided by a few open-ended questions and are designed to be relaxed and conversational. These conversations will help inform future approaches to inclusive and effective reading intervention. The focus groups will be offered either in person or via Zoom, depending on participant's location and preferences, and various session times will be available (mornings, evenings, weekends) so you can join a focus group at a time that works best for you.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and all contributions will be treated with confidentiality and respect.
You can access the documents by clicking the link below:

For any questions or further information, please feel free to contact the researcher Cheryl Hooper via email: [email protected]
Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to meaningful research in literacy education!
