Book Week 2026 📚✨
What a wonderful Book Week we had last week at Leumeah! Across our rooms, the children explored a range of much-loved stories through books, sensory play, music, imaginative play and hands-on experiences. Each room enjoyed bringing their favourite stories to life in their own special way.
🐸 Tadpoles
The Tadpoles explored The Cat in the Hat, searched for Where’s Wally?, discovered the life cycle of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and enjoyed Happy and You Know It through story time and songs. They also went on a prehistoric adventure inspired by 10 Minutes to Bed: Little Dinosaur, using a dinosaur hunt and sensory tray to encourage curiosity, exploration and imaginative play.
🐞 Ladybugs
The Ladybugs went on an exciting adventure with We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, ventured into the deep, dark wood with The Gruffalo, and took to the skies with Room on the Broom. Through sensory experiences, imaginative play and storytelling, the children enjoyed bringing these wonderful stories to life.
🐢 Turtles
The Turtles explored Room on the Broom, met Elmer the Elephant, followed the journey of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and had lots of fun with stories and music inspired by The Wiggles. Their week was filled with colour, movement, music and hands-on exploration.
🐸 Treefrogs
The Treefrogs discovered The Very Hungry Caterpillar, joined in the adventure of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, and explored the much-loved Australian story Wombat Stew. The children enjoyed using their imaginations and senses to explore the characters, settings and adventures within each story.
🦋 Butterflies
The Butterflies went on a bear hunt, stepped into the wacky world of The Cat in the Hat, explored the colourful underwater world of The Rainbow Fish, and searched for Where Is the Green Sheep? Through storytelling, play and creative experiences, the children had a wonderful time exploring each story.
It was a fantastic Book Week filled with imagination, discovery, creativity and a love of stories. 📚❤️✨
