**NEW** SMALL GROUP TUTORING NOW AVAILABLE

I'm excited to announce that I have now added a tutoring option for small groups of students!

Group sessions are only available when booking via my italki page. To view prices, please visit my italki teacher profile (link below) and select the lesson type labelled 'Mathematics in English: small group lessons'.

Groups of two, three or four students can book this lesson type to learn mathematics together, with all sessions to be conducted via Zoom. Prices are per lesson, not per student (you must form your own group).

These are the same as my usual tutoring sessions (private lessons with me via Zoom or Skype), but with more session-length options and discounted package rates.

These lessons are appropriate for high school students of any level from the beginning of year 7 up to and including HSC Extension 1. This lesson category can also be booked for high school mathematics preparation coaching sessions for parents of students in years 5 and 6.

How to prepare adequately for high school maths tests and exams...

Studying for maths = revision of topics and actively PRACTICING QUESTIONS, setting out all working exactly as you should in an exam

The vast majority of study time should involve actually working through questions (without constantly referring to your notes – reading over notes can be useful as a BRIEF initial refresher, but trying to memorise your maths notes is generally a waste of time)

The goal is NOT to simply get everything done as quickly as possible, the goal is to LEARN from what you are doing (take your time and seek to UNDERSTAND what you are doing – think about the WHY, not just the HOW when answering questions)

Maths topics tend to overlap quite a bit (for example, you need to be able to solve equations within topics such as geometry and trigonometry, not just when specifically being tested on the equations topic itself), so you may need to revise additional content as well as what is included on the topic list for the upcoming test/exam

Questions should be sourced from a variety of different places, including:

- Textbook exercises & end-of-chapter reviews (mark these upon completion of each exercise) – if you get something wrong, correct your understanding by referring to worked examples and lesson notes then redo those questions (if you take the opportunity to truly LEARN from your mistakes, you will be less likely to repeat them in the future)

- Extra revision sheets provided by your teacher/school (ask for these if none have been provided)

- Past test/exam papers

- Additional outside resources such as Edrolo and MathsOnline (check if your school already provides access to these)
