My Autism Australia On the 28th of February 2007, my adorable little boy was diagnosed with Autism. He is well spoken, polite and co-operative......well most of the time lol.

Since then we have been on an incredible journey through the world of Autism..... My son started out with a severe delay in his expressive and receptive language skills and a mild developmental delay. He could not speak, he could not point to tell me what he wanted and he certainly was unable to sit for Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology sessions without throwing himself on the floor out of

frustration........today he attends a mainstream school where he excels academically. Throughout our journey we have overcome many obsticles and I have learnt a great deal about Autism along the way. I hope to share some of our experiences through this page and invite other parents to share some of theirs as well. In the comming weeks our website will be up and running with plenty of Autism related information including specific information for the Macarthur area. The website will also include a shop front selling resources to aid in the education of children with Autism and other disabilities.

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mums of children with autism and special needs!!!

It's not always easy, there's tears and triumphs, the good days and the bad, and for a lot of us, a glass of wine (or two) to help us along the way! But the joy of a smile, a single word or a hug makes it all worth while.

Celebrate today and look at what your child has achieved over the past year with your help and think about what else could be worked on in the year ahead....

I always say there's no such thing as "can't" only "how?" There's always a way, you just have to find it!! And NEVER EVER give up. ###
