Where did the guys get to yesterday??? Can you tell from the first two pictures? 🧐

If you guessed Luna Park, you’d be correct!

Such a beautiful day in the city for fun and thrills at Luna Park. It’s been a couple of years since we had this on the calendar and it didn’t disappoint!

They managed to hit the rides, Coney Island and the sideshows all before heading back to the Quay via ferry. A quick stop for some well deserved gelato before heading back home.

August Cooking

This month was another Italian treat and a “redo” of a favourite last year.

Our clients learnt to make traditional Carbonara, they learnt what guanciale is and the difference between Parmesan and Pecorino cheese.

We also took a little trip down memory lane…. Who remembers Sizzler’s famous cheese bread? Well, our clients made that today as a side with their pasta, delicious!

Last year they tried some cake pops. Unfortunately, the weather was so humid, the chocolate was really hard to work with. Today they tried it again with amazing results! Brownie cake pops were a massive hit and I’m sure will be on the menu again at some stage. 😊🍝🧀🍫

And the guys wrapped up their tennis month today!

Last fortnight was doubles, today we challenged in singles but still with a team. We definitely got everyone moving today and had loads of fun doing it! Well done to Charlotte who out played everyone of us today!

They have some cool activities planned for the next few months now, much to April trying to twist them all into just staying on court 😂

We ended at the Fat Cat Cafe for a great wholesome lunch and some awesome conversation today.

What a Friday!!! 🤗

For the very first time in the Friday Social Program, we were able to head up into the Blue Mountains and checked out Scenic World.

We became tourists in our own city and explored the amazing National Parklands of the area.

Scenic World saw many push themselves outside their comfort zones to get on the steepest train in the world, and see the Jamison Valley from above and below on the Skyline and Cable Car.

We were also able to venture way down almost to the forest floor on their walking trails which were abundant with greenery, old coal mines and the history of the area.

After lunch we took them to the Three Sisters lookout at Echo Point to really take the day in!

You guys rocked it! 🤩

Practicing research skills again this week with health and wellbeing.

This fortnight, the crew were learning all things digestive system! After we did the main learnings, we got each client to research one of the main organs in this system to then come back and teach the other clients about it.

This week saw our clients not only search the library but also engage the library staff to assist! So awesome to see confidence grow each and every week. And we all learnt a thing or two as well 😊

Finished with a cheeky lunch at The Campbell Hotel before heading home to get ready for our amazing social tomorrow….

Last week we had a bit of a celebration within the LST family….

Our lovely staff member Natalia who left us earlier this year to take on her recreation therapist role, got married!

We are all absolutely thrilled for her and her husband on starting their next chapter together.

Navigation Day to use light rail and head to Haymarket/Darling Harbour precinct.

Friday saw the guys and girls head to Central and then learn to use the light rail system to get down through Haymarket and into Darling Harbour. They checked out Tik Tok Entertainment Centre, the ICC Entertainment Centre, found IMAX and wondered throughout the harbour to see all the amazing food on offer!

After lunch, it was ice cream time before starting to head back home. Not without a hiccup today, it was all a great learning experience on the public transport of Sydney!

This month’s health and wellbeing is all about tennis!

Charlotte, Brielle, Zac and Cody chose to do some tennis for their practical this month.

We hired a court at Camden and spent the hour today having a blast with some warm ups, and doubles!

Our guys definitely had some hidden talent in a few moves 😊. Afterwards, we hit Squeeze and Grind for some lunch.

Hey guys, can we do this for the rest of the year??? 😎🎾🤣

Saturday night saw a special night out for both myself (April) and Kylie representing Life Skills Tutoring in the local community.

We went along to the Mayor’s Charity Gala to help celebrate and support the work by The Blue Butterfly Institute being recognised this year by Campbelltown Council.

Hosted at Ottomo House, we enjoyed a night of laughs, good food and of course helping to fundraise for The Blue Butterfly Institute.

Our Friday Social this week took the guys back to Holey Moley Wollongong. It was only a couple of years ago, we celebrated our Christmas party in this exact place!

This year however, was just for fun and laughs. Holey Moley have such great venues, and a great menu too! The crew enjoyed a late lunch after their mini golf session. Until next time….. 😎
