🌟 Happy SSO Week! 🌟

A quick but very heartfelt thank you to Chris, Sarah, Nicole, Niya and Jacqui for all the many hats you wear and everything you do for Cambrai.

From supporting our students and staff, to keeping things organised, solving problems, helping behind the scenes and stepping in wherever you’re needed — our school simply wouldn’t be the same without you.

Over $800 raised for Canberra! 🇦🇺🏃‍♀️🎨

Today we raised over $800 towards sending our students to Canberra next year to visit Parliament House and some of our nation’s important monuments and institutions!

We packed a lot into one day — a fun run, treasure hunt AND colour run — and it was gloriously messy, colourful and fun! 🌈

Our students are also doing their part, writing to businesses and organisations asking for sponsorship and donations to help make the trip possible. Our tonne of firewood raffle came about from one of those letters, and we’re hoping to turn that incredibly generous donation from into even more funds towards our airfares.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in, donated, sponsored our runners and continues to get behind our little school. Canberra, here we come! ❤️🖤

Happy Primary Principals Day! 💙

Today we celebrate the people who lead our primary schools with heart, vision and unwavering dedication.

At Cambrai Primary School and Preschool, we're incredibly fortunate to have Leila leading our community. Whether she's learning alongside students at Meldanda, supporting families, championing our staff, writing grants late into the evening, or dreaming up new opportunities for our children, her passion for this community shines through in everything she does.

Leila believes every child deserves to belong, to be cared for, and to grow. She works tirelessly to create opportunities that many would never expect from a small rural school, proving that small really can be mighty.

Thank you, Leila, for your leadership, your kindness, your endless energy, and your belief in our students, staff and community. We appreciate everything you do.

We're excited to announce that 2027 enrolments are now open for our new 3-Year-Old Preschool Program at Cambrai Primary School & Preschool.

Designed to provide a gentle introduction to learning, our play-based program gives children opportunities to build confidence, make friends, explore nature and develop a lifelong love of learning in a safe, caring environment.

🌿 Growing Strong Together 🌿

One of the ways we build connection at Cambrai is through our Kanyini Groups. This term, every child belongs to a cross-age group named after a local native plant, helping them build relationships, learn from one another and develop a strong sense of belonging and connection to Country.

With Spring on the horizon, our Kanyini focus is Plants and Pollinators.

A huge thank you to Aimee Linke from Mid Murray Landcare for visiting on the first day of term to share her knowledge with our students. Aimee introduced each group's native plant, sharing fascinating facts, seeds, pods, branches and even young plants for students to see, touch and explore.

Despite a frosty, misty Cambrai morning, we then headed out to discover these plants growing in our own community around the Landcare and Council offices and the local park.

Thank you, Aimee, for helping our students see the incredible stories growing all around them. 🌱

A snapshot of the past that has been brought to life!

CAMBRAI - 1916

Rhine Villa School
now Cambrai Primary and Preschool

Cambrai Primary School opened in 1888 as Rhine Villa before being renamed in 1918. Operating on Skinner Street in the Mid Murray region, the school transformed into a Higher Primary in 1954. It now hosts the local Cambrai School Community Library and manages Meldanda, a 100-acre environmental learning property.

🌿 Our students enjoyed welcoming Bourke Emily Bourke MP, Minister for Climate, Environment and Water, to Meldanda as part of a Landscape SA visit.

They shared some of the environmental projects they’re involved in through our partnership with Mid Murray Landcare, from restoring habitat to monitoring biodiversity.

The highlight, however, was introducing Emily to one of their favourite places—clambering through the rocky Marne River bed to visit their cubby village. It’s these adventures that make learning at Meldanda so special. 💚🌿
