Join us in congratulating Kinen, who took advantage of the stunning weather today and flew his first solo circuit!

Kinen was helped by having access to the GoFly Online video and theory material before he arrived in Australia to do his flight training. He passed his two exams last week and made fast progress with his flying lessons with instructors Chris and Ben Whitty.

We have stunning flying weather this week and the following slots available:
-Today at 1:30 pm
-Wednesday at 7:30, 9:30 am and 1:30 pm.
-Thursday at 7:30 am and 1:30 pm.
-Friday, a Private Hire slot at 1.30pm. 

Welcome to Stewart who finished his training earlier this year and joined our team a few weeks ago.

He says 'After quite a long pause where I’ve spent (and continue to work) almost 20 years as a paramedic and emergency, disaster and public sector management roles, I found my way back behind the controls of a plane. During the last three days of rain, Abby had time to study and pass her radio, pre-solo and Air Legislation exams. She and Instructor Ben persevered with lessons despite the showers, and Abby finally got to take her first solo flight this morning under the supervision of Snr Instructor Tom.

Congratulations Abby! And well done to Instructor Ben.

Today seems like as good a day as any for a lesson on how to interpret weather charts. Weather man Garry Youngberry, explains how to read weather charts, understand isobars, high and low pressure systems, cold and warm fronts.

On days like today, with frequent showers, and low clouds, it’s hard to know whether to get students to come to the school, on the off-chance of being able to fly, or cancel the lesson so they can do something else with their day.

This morning we expected low clouds and knew to start flights at 9.30 rather than 7.30. Those flights were eventually cancelled. It’s 12.30pm and we have David on site, patiently waiting since 11.30, along with Kinen who is here from Hong Kong.

The clouds have finally lifted and Tom says the flights are now good to go.

Oh, hang on, the rain has started again…

Who knows what the weather will do tomorrow? Not us! But we do have a 9.30am slot and a 1.30pm slot available if you are happy to take a punt. Book in using FSP or text 0410496438, if you want one, before 8.30pm tonight.
