This week, our Year 5 students enjoyed an excursion, walking across the sand bar from Happy Valley to the northern tip of Bribie Island.
The excursion provided a fantastic opportunity for students to observe the effects of weathering, erosion, transportation and deposition in a real-world setting. Students explored eroded sand banks, observed how sand is moved and deposited by wind and water, and discussed how these natural processes continually shape the coastline.
The northern tip of Bribie Island is a significant landform because it is constantly changing due to tides, waves and ocean currents, making it an excellent example of the concepts we have been studying in Science.
After enjoying morning tea by the water, students returned to school to continue working on their Science assessment. We hope you enjoy the photos of our students exploring this unique coastal environment and applying their learning beyond the classroom.
A special thank you to Allison Naiker for accompanying us on the excursion and helping to make the day such a success.

🎨 Creativity meets history and contemporary culture in our Year 7–8 Visual Art classes
Students have been exploring drawing and ceramics through hands-on projects inspired by Tudor Portraiture and Pop Art, bringing learning to life in meaningful and imaginative ways.
From crafting Regal Creatures using anthropomorphism, to designing bold ceramic food sculptures inspired by Claes Oldenburg, each piece reflects creativity, experimentation, and individual expression.
Beyond the artwork, students are building valuable skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and visual storytelling, while developing an understanding of both historical and contemporary art practices.
At CCPS, we encourage a blend of academic depth and creative exploration, empowering students to think differently, express confidently, and engage deeply with their learning.

With the support and guidance of Proficiency Coach Karen Peck, our students have been busy harvesting fresh vegetables and preparing the garden beds for the next round of planting 🌱
From collecting produce straight from the garden to clearing and refreshing the space, every step provides hands-on learning and meaningful opportunities for growth.
Through gardening, students develop observation skills, learn responsibility through caring for living things, build patience and commitment, and gain a deeper understanding of where food comes from and how we can care for our environment.
Learning that encourages curiosity, connection and growth beyond the classroom
