Back to where little hearts and curious minds thrive... in nature!

Our Kindy children enjoyed another wonderful adventure outdoors, spending the morning planting trees, exploring the environment, and meeting some incredible wildlife along the way.

These hands-on experiences help children build a lifelong connection with nature while learning the importance of caring for our environment. Every tree planted today is a step towards a greener tomorrow, and a memory our Kindy children will treasure for years to come.

Again, a huge thank you to Aura - City of Colour, and everyone else involved in making these excursions possible.

Our Kindergarten children had the exciting opportunity to visit our local police station and learn more about the important role police officers play in keeping our community safe.
During their visit, the children toured the station, exploring the holding cells, interview rooms and other areas while asking lots of thoughtful questions. They also had the chance to look inside the police vehicles, have their fingerprints taken and even experience being breathalysed, making for a fun and engaging hands-on learning experience.
This excursion helped build the children's understanding of community helpers while fostering confidence and curiosity through real-world experiences.
A heartfelt thank you to the amazing police officers at Caloundra South Police Station myPolice Sunshine Coast for warmly welcoming our children and for the incredible work you do every day to serve and support our community.
Also, a huge thank you to Charlotte from Aura - City of Colour for organising such a great opportunity for our children to experience.

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

đź’› Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

đź’› Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

đź’› Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

đź’› Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

đź’› Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.

Suspect 1 and Suspect 2.

When they said take the children on an exciting excursion, we didnt realise it would end in the back of a paddy wagon.

Miss Kayla is quick to shift the blame to Miss Jacky. Miss Jacky says it's all lies.

The accused maintain their innocence and claim they were simply trying to create meaningful learning experiences.
It's further alleged they've been taken into custody for running the best centre in the community.

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you see this picture? 🤣

Surrounded by fresh air, towering trees, and the warmth of a crackling campfire, on Friday the Kindy children discovered that nature really is the greatest classroom.
They learned to safely use a saw, work together as a team to accomplish challenges, and experience the joy of roasting marshmallows over an open fire. These moments build more than skills, they nurture confidence, resilience, friendships, and a lifelong connection with the natural world.
A huge thank you to Wildlings Forest School for making these memorable excursions possible.

Today we say goodbye to Kianu.
For those who may not know, Kianu has been supporting our service as a consistent Agency Educator and quickly became a valued part of our team.
As he heads off to Canada tomorrow, we feel incredibly privileged that he chose to spend his final day in the country celebrating with us.
We wish him all the very best for this exciting new chapter and can’t wait to follow along on all the adventures ahead.
