Celebrating with Custodians the dawning of new cycles, new things, growth and the beginning of new ways in Caloundra... 27/9 - 6/10/2013@Kings Beach Q4551

Caloundra's Custodians teach us that G/Kalowendah Country includes all of the interconnected waterways, land, Peoples and all living things. We invite you to share a milestone with our whole community. Join us as we learn from our Custodians for the first time how to understand, do and celebrate Neurungun: the arrival of the new annual cycles, a new growth season and the beginning of new ways. Neu

To our Caloundra Community and Neurungun event supporters...

Tonight we received an invitation to the Caloundra Fringe Festival Wrap-up/ Debrief session... in less than 2 days time. Yes, less than 2 days time.

Apparently: "This meeting is for you to have your say about the festival, how you believe things went, what you felt worked well and ultimately provide us with things that could be done better at next year's showcasing of the festival"

If we want to change the way events are run in Caloundra, evaluation is everything.

But...
Most CFF-event organisers are 100% volunteers (Did you know that??!!!) and have their week committed to other organisations: not Council (who have their own paid event-related employees). The meeting is scheduled for 10am: the busiest time of the day in the places where most of us work... with only one work day to get the message and organise to have roles covered.

And...
We're not aware of anyone actually asking the 'Event Organisers' where we are up to in our own event evaluations
[At Neurungun 2013, we still have at least 2 weeks to go before we can effectively report back to our own Traditional Custodians first, let alone ask for their feedback].

So, this is a 100% community-driven event.
Have your say...

Big thanks to Country for hosting this meeting place over the past 11 days...

We're all packed up n bumped out, ready for these gusty winds that are clearing away the footprints n make a fresh canvas for new ones...

We send blessings and thanks to Kalowendah Country and its surrounds for the patience and lessons. (Country- all land, waterways: living things: including you).

We encourage all those who have contributed to keep riding and developing the connections: afterall, that's what brought you to us in the first place.

Happy Neurungun everyone !!

Big Thanks to our wonderful community voli Lisa from LisaSista Photography: the photos from our BIG day yesterday are looking sensational...!! Check out the album folks, message her site for the private pics and check back in soon for more :)
Love you Lisa: thanks for the great energy and sharing :)

LisaSista was lucky enough to be invited to the Neurungun 2013 festival at Kings beach... Its an 11 day long event - run in conjunction with the Caloundra Fringe Festival and the Caloundra Music Festival, - I could only make it down there for one day - but it was a GREAT day! Beautiful weather, a beautiful location and I got to meet some beautiful people, make new friends - and reconnect with some old friends too...

I took LOTS of photos and it may take some time to get them all up on Flickr - thank you for your patience :) As soon as they are ready - I will send a link to Alea - and anyone else who requests the link :) Some of the photos I took were requested to be made available 'privately' - if Thats YOU, dont forget to leave a message so I can give you a 'private' link to your images.

Neurungun is a 100% community-driven event dedicated to healing, connecting and celebrating Caloundra Country together.

Day 5/Tuesday Wrap-up

Big shout out to Country, its TCs, Kabbarli and everyone that contributed to such an enjoyable day... all the photos don't do it justice.

The sun shone with strength and a perfect breeze all day. First visitors were a couple of whales and some dolphins.

Ebb n Flo returned from yesterday; we were treated to a shared Welcome to Country... Great to see De back on stage with us.. we yarned with Our Deadly Designer Natalie Cunningham and later had a fashion show treat with her Dreamtime Sisters.. Lots of great young n emerging artists kept us going thru til mid afternoon whilst the weavers wove on and the bodies in the painting place became rainbows.. And smurf-like..

Mark n David n crew taught everyone to shake a leg; Lyndon, Brent and Zieck painted up and led ceremony and got the fire started as the sun set; the drumming circle kicked in and the bump out began.

The highlights:
The new and re-connections everywhere and
The relaxed, happy smiles

The lowlights:
The missing volis have been noted
Time passing fast
Not being able to fit in another Bush Tucker Cafe Burger

Thanks everyone and happy Neurungun 2013!!
