Are disposable coffee cups and plastic fruit and veggie bags a thing of a past? 🤔
You’ve got until 28 January 2022 to let us know which single use plastics you think should be banned next in Queensland.
Items being considered include coffee cups and lids, plastic drinking cups, dome lids like those used on milkshakes, plastic wrapping on magazines or newspapers, fruit and vegetable produce bags, expanded polystyrene meat trays, balloon sticks and closures, and bread bag tags.
If you’re not among the thousands of Queenslanders who’ve already shared their thoughts, now is the time!

Do you walk past a flying-fox roost on a regular basis? Have one in your local park or bush reserve? Would you like to learn more and contribute to the knowledge-base on flying-foxes in your area as part of a state-wide program?
In conjunction with Clean Air and Urban Landscapes Hub (CAUL), we’d like to invite you to collect and contribute roost information via the CAUL Urban Wildlife App.
You can record the different species present, try your hand at estimating the number of animals, and maybe even identify if babies are present. So cute!
Download the app from https://nespurban.edu.au/platforms/caul-urban-wildlife-app/, learn to recognise the species and start entering data.
**Remember this is about observing flying-foxes not interacting with them. Don’t get too close to the animals and if you see a flying-fox that’s sick, injured or on the ground don’t touch it! Contact RSPCA QLD on 1300 animal (1300 264 625).
