Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming bestselling author Jack Heath to Calderwood! Speaking with Stage 3 and Secondary students, Jack shared his journey as a writer, his creative process, and the inspiration behind his stories.
Students loved his humour, energy, and interactive storytelling, even helping to shape a story by suggesting plot twists and creative ideas along the way! The excitement continued with a popular book-signing session, giving students the chance to meet Jack and have their books signed.

On Friday, our Calderwood community came together in a beautiful expression of compassion and care during our ‘Winter Wrap-Up’ SRC initiative.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of students, families, and staff, a total of 613 cans of soup were collected – almost 200 more cans than 2025! Our dedicated SRC representatives helped pack the cans to be transported to the Wollongong Homeless Hub as staff brought a van to collect our community's donations.

As the school community rugged up in beanies and scarves, it was a joy to see so many participate in serving others in such a practical and meaningful way. We pray these donations will be a source of warmth and nourishment to those in the Illawarra facing challenging circumstances.

This week, Junior School and Secondary students competed at their Zone Athletics Carnivals at Beaton Park.

Congratulations to Garion, Ella and Ava, who were crowned Age Champions for their efforts on the day, as well as Ella, who set a new Zone record in the 16 Years Girls 100m!
