Celebrating Student Voice & Civic Engagement โ Tenzin Chimi, Grade 11
We are incredibly proud of Tenzin Chimi for her outstanding participation in the National Youth Parliament, where young Australians have the opportunity to engage in democratic processes, debate important issues and develop their leadership skills.
During the program, Tenzin contributed to the passing of 2 important bills: the Intergenerational Fairness Commissioner Bill and the AI Transparency Bill.
As part of her Adjournment Speech, Tenzin also spoke passionately about the cause of a free Tibet, calling for Australia to continue standing with communities experiencing conflict, displacement, human rights challenges and the loss of fundamental freedoms. She also highlighted the situations in Afghanistan, Sudan, East Turkistan and Palestine, emphasizing the importance of compassion, human rights, peace and dignity for all people.
We congratulate Tenzin for using her voice to engage with important issues and for demonstrating courage, empathy and civic engagement on a national platform.
Her participation is a wonderful example of the importance of empowering young people to become informed, compassionate and active members of our community.
Well done, Tenzin! We are proud of you.
