Communities for Children We provide free activities and programs for children 0-12 years and their families.

Communities for Children Cairns South and Yarrabah supports families to provide safe environments, learning opportunities, and well-being for children, with the intention of creating strong communities. Communities For Children supports families to provide safe stable environments, quality learning opportunities, school engagement, and to improve health and well-being of children creating strong c

hild-friendly communities. Communities for Children is not a Child Care Centre

To improve the health and well-being of families and the development of young children, from before birth through to age 12 years, paying special attention to:

- Healthy young families – supporting parents to care for their children before and after birth and throughout the early years;

- Supporting families and parents – support for parents to provide children with secure attachment, consistent discipline and quality environments that are stable, positive, stimulating, safe and secure;

- Early learning – provide access to high quality early learning opportunities in the years before school; provide early identification and support for children at risk of developmental and behavioural problems; assist parents with ways they can stimulate and promote child development and learning from birth; and

- School transition and engagement – support children and families to make a smooth transition to school and work with local schools to assist children and families with their ongoing engagement with school.

- To create strong child-friendly communities that understand the importance of children and apply this capacity to maximise the health, well-being and early development of young children at the local level.

This year's theme "Communication Creates Possibility," celebrates the difference speech pathologists make every day, helping people connect, learn, participate, and thrive.

If you've ever wondered:

🎨 Facepainting is always a crowd favourite at South Side Celebration, so this year two face painters will be there! This is a fantastic, fun and FREE community event so pop it in your calendars 📆

Get ready to sparkle, roar, shimmer and shine — because FREE face painting is back at South Side Celebration this September!

We’re welcoming Cairns Magical Face & Balloon and Sweet K Facepainting, bringing their incredible colours, creativity and crowd‑favourite designs. From butterflies to superheroes, dinosaurs to glittery rainbows, your little ones will walk away transformed.

🌧️ **BLOOM & BELONG – TODAY’S SESSION CANCELLED** 🌧️

Unfortunately, today’s **Bloom & Belong Nature Playgroup** has been cancelled due to the heavy rain. 🌧️💦

We had hoped we could still go ahead, but after arriving to set up, we’ve found the site is **very wet and soggy**. Today the weather has other plans!
We are working to find options with more undercover areas to utilise going forward too.

We’re looking forward to seeing all our little nature explorers and their grown-ups next week 🌿💚

Here’s hoping the rain finally clears and we get some sunshine soon! ☀️🤞

South Side Celebration is bringing the ultimate inflatable showdown to Ravizza Park this September!

💥 Containment Breach – the monster obstacle course with tunnels, wrecking balls, pop‑ups and a huge dual‑lane racing slide.
🦖 T‑Rex Takeover – bounce, crawl, climb and slide your way through a jungle ruled by a giant T‑Rex.

These two inflatables are ready to deliver non‑stop action, high‑energy fun and plenty of friendly competition.
