STUDENT SUCCESS | Congratulations to Year 12 student Ceira O'Brien, who is this year's winner of the Kmart Team Member NAIDOC Art Initiative! Ceira's artwork, Yunggul (Together) Through Time reflects the 2026 NAIDOC Week theme, "50 Years of Deadly", celebrating five decades of strength, resilience and the enduring culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The artwork will feature alongside the official National NAIDOC Week poster artwork across Kmart Group Deadly Stores network during NAIDOC Week. Well done Ceira!

It is with great sadness that we share, on behalf of the family and the wider diocesan community, that Fr Pat McKenna died peacefully at Cairns Base Hospital in the early hours of Friday, 12 June.

We give thanks for his faithful and devoted service to our diocese, and for the many lives he touched through his ministry, kindness, and presence among us. Please join us in prayer as we honour his life and commend him to the loving mercy of God.

Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns continues to encourage secondary students to consider a career in teaching through the Aspire to Teach program.

Seventeen St Andrew's Catholic College students and nine St Monica's College, Cairns students, accompanied by their program teachers, participated in a JCU: James Cook University, Australia Intensive Day as part of the 2026 Aspire to Teach program.
