Edmonton Community Kindergarten

Our Philosophy is a living and learning document that guides every aspect of our practice – our interactions, our communication our decision making and our commitment to quality care and education for our children and families of Edmonton community Kindergarten. The statement reflects a shared understanding of the role of our Kindergarten with significant stakeholders – educators, families, children, management and the wider community.

• Our Kindergarten intends to provide an enjoyable, caring and challenging learning environment where children are encouraged to learn and play.
• As competent and capable learners, we believe children have a right to be decision makers in actively constructing their own learning. We will support and promote children’s total wellbeing by facilitating, extending and enriching their learning experiences.
• We believe it is important to be complement and support the role of the family and community in the child’s life by working together in partnerships. We value family input into decision making and draw upon that to improve the quality of our Kindergarten
• Our Kindergarten values the diversity within Australian society, and actively engages children in discussion and experiences that reflect equity and inclusion of different cultures and lifestyles.
• We value and support our educators as professional teams, in their work with children and families, and in their commitment to continuous improvement guided by professional standards.
• We will establish and maintain well organised management and administrative systems to ensure effective operations of the Kindergarten. This means we have an obligation to abide by laws, regulations, policies and guiding principles underpinning the effective provision of quality children’s services. At Edmonton Kindergarten our vision is to work together to nurture children as life-long learners.
