💙 Meet Hope the Elephant! 🐘

We are excited to welcome Hope the Elephant to our centre! Hope is a special friend from River's Gift, helping children learn about safe sleep, kindness, care and connection through play and everyday experiences.

Throughout the year, Hope will:
🐘 Join us for group times and story time.
💙 Be a comforting classroom friend.
🏡 Visit families as a special take-home buddy.
📸 Join in our adventures and special events.
😴 Help children learn about safe sleep by always going to sleep safely on her back in a clear, uncluttered sleep space.
🎨 Inspire conversations, creativity and learning through play.

If Hope comes home with your family, we encourage you to include her in your daily adventures, take some photos, and share a little about what she got up to before returning her to the centre for her next adventure.

We can't wait to see all the wonderful memories Hope creates with our children and families while supporting the important message of safe sleep.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Miss Trina for the incredible effort she put into making our NAIDOC Week celebrations so special for the team. Miss Trina lovingly prepared a delicious NAIDOC-inspired lunch for all of the educators and surprised everyone with thoughtful gifts to acknowledge and celebrate the week. Your generosity, kindness, and dedication to creating meaningful experiences for our team are truly appreciated. Thank you, Miss Trina, for always going above and beyond to make our centre feel like a family. We are so grateful for everything you do.

Today, we participated in a large collaborative painting experience using big paintbrushes to decorate a large sheet of cardboard attached to the fence. The children thoroughly enjoyed using large brush strokes to spread the paint across the surface. They also experimented with movement & motion by hitting their paintbrushes against the cardboard, creating big splats of paint, which brought lots of excitement & laughter. Some children chose to explore the paint further by using their fingers & hands to make different markings & patterns. Throughout the experience, we spoke about the different colours we could see & use, encouraging the children to identify & talk about them together. This experience supported the children’s self-expression, sensory exploration & fine motor development, as well as understanding of colours, cause & effect, & collaborative play.
