🏉💙❤️ State of Origin Day is coming to Mount Sheridan Early Education Centre! Children and educators are invited to come dressed in their team colours and show their support for the Blues or the Maroons. We can’t wait for a fun-filled day of team spirit, excitement, and State pride! 🎉

Today, we participated in a large collaborative painting experience using big paintbrushes to decorate a large sheet of cardboard attached to the fence. The children thoroughly enjoyed using large brush strokes to spread the paint across the surface. They also experimented with movement & motion by hitting their paintbrushes against the cardboard, creating big splats of paint, which brought lots of excitement & laughter. Some children chose to explore the paint further by using their fingers & hands to make different markings & patterns. Throughout the experience, we spoke about the different colours we could see & use, encouraging the children to identify & talk about them together. This experience supported the children’s self-expression, sensory exploration & fine motor development, as well as understanding of colours, cause & effect, & collaborative play.

This morning was full of fun, laughter, and lots of messy play! The children explored a variety of sensory-rich activities including cooked spaghetti play, a refreshing fruit water tray, colourful sand, and so much more.

These hands-on experiences support the children’s curiosity, creativity, and developing fine motor skills—all while having a wonderful time getting messy!

Today Mount Sheridan Early Education Centre forged a lovely connection with Jesse & Kayla from Daylight Cultural Immersions . Our two Early Childhood Teachers felt more confident leading an Acknowledgment to Country with the children, and they got more clarity on appropriate language and how to answer children's questions. Reflective practice & Cultural Safety were also big takeaways. This all helps us strengthen our Reconciliation Action Plan 😊

January has been a joyful start to our learning journey. The children have shown great curiosity during group times, sensory play, and hands-on experiences.
