GRANTS OPEN FOR LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS (QLD)
The latest round of grants to assist Queensland small businesses to kickstart their business are now open for application. Minister for Employment and Small Business Shannon Fentiman said funding of up to $5,000 was available for each successful recipient.

In-training as at 31 March 2017
There were 275,200 apprentices and trainees in-training as at
31 March 2017, a decrease of 3.7% from 31 March 2016.
Quarterly training activity
In the March quarter 2017, compared with the March quarter 2016:
commencements decreased by 0.1%, to 56,200
completions decreased by 5.1%, to 25,300
cancellations and withdrawals increased by 0.1%, to 23,700.
Training activity: 12-month ending series
In the 12 months ending 31 March 2017, compared with the
12 months ending 31 March 2016:
commencements decreased by 1.9%, to 166,700
completions decreased by 15.1%, to 97,300
cancellations and withdrawals decreased by 0.5%, to 93,400

Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills, Karen Andrews, this week launched National Skills Week which runs until September 3.
