Last month, our Centre of Excellence Dance students had the incredible opportunity to participate in workshops delivered by The Australian Ballet at the Bulmba-Ja Arts Theatre.
These engaging workshops focused on developing both performance and creative skills, giving students valuable insight into the professional creative process. Students explored the art of storytelling through Indigenous culture, learning how movement, music composition, costume design, and prop creation work together to bring powerful stories to life.
This inspiring experience encouraged creativity, collaboration, and cultural understanding while providing our students with a unique opportunity to learn from industry professionals.
We are incredibly proud of our dancers for embracing this experience with enthusiasm and dedication.

🎀💗 PINK DAY 2026 💗🎀
What an amazing day of pink, fun, and community spirit at Cairns State High School!
Students and staff embraced the occasion with an incredible display of pink outfits, pink pyjamas, face painting, pink hair spray, bracelet making, photo booth fun, singing, live music and plenty of smiles throughout the day. 💕
It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved and supporting such an important cause. Every donation and purchase made today will help support the Cancer Council's vital breast cancer research, education, and support services.
A huge thank you to our SRC, student volunteers, and everyone who participated and helped make Pink Day such a success.
Together, we wore pink, had fun, and made a difference. 🎀

Success in the 2026 Australia Economics Olympiad
Congratulations to Year 12 students Matthew Keirle and Logan Tallis on progressing to the Second Round of the 2026 Australian Economics Olympiad (AEO). This is an outstanding achievement, placing Matthew and Logan among the top 40 students Australia-wide from Round One of this prestigious competition.
Fifteen CSHS students sat the challenging two-hour Round One exam at the end of May, alongside senior Economics students from across Australia. The strong level of student participation reflects the growing interest in Economics at CSHS, while Matthew and Logan’s success is a wonderful testament to the strength of the program, which in 2026 is delivering the school’s first senior Economics cohort in several years.
We wish Matthew and Logan all the best for Round Two taking place this week, where five students will be selected to represent Australia at the International Economics Olympiad.
