Karate Cairns - Fudoshin Sh*toryu

We are honoured to have Sensei Trevor Perkins vist our dojo on a regular basis in recent years. A very close and senior right hand man to our esteemed mentor the late Shihan Con Kassis. Sensei Trevor is a humble person who carries a wealth of knowledge in kata and bunkai handed on from Shihan Con and Master Kenei Mabuni. Tonight we practiced Sh*toryu Sochin and bunkai. The kata we learn from Sensei Trevor is historically correct. I hope my students find their way into the dojo to take advantage of this opportunity. See you all Wednesday.

Another strong session kumite/kata ahead of next months Australian Titles. A big thanks to Rio and James for being available as sparring partners for the team.

It is a pleasure to see the smiling faces of Kaitlyn (L), Catherine (M) and mum Carine (R) in our dojo weekly. The two girls have been training with us for six months and are rapidly improving. Karate taught properly will give them skills, structure and discipline. They are a happy family bringing a good energy into the dojo. Always a pleasure to see them.

Good news. Sensei Trevor Perkins and wife Allison will be in Cairns for a visit in a few weeks. Trevor is one of the most senior students of the late Shihan Con Kassis. Shihan Con trained with his famous mentor Soke Kenei Mabuni, learning kata and bunki almost excusively for nearly thirty years. This was largely passed on to Sensei Trevor. It will be a great opportunity to attend training and gain greater insight. After spending some time in Cairns he will also be on the Australia team going to the Sh*tokai World Championships with some of us later in the year. Lets make the most of this visit and enjoy some social activities as well!.
